Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Jim Cramer

On CNBC's "Mad Money Lightning Round," Jim Cramer said he believes in Charlie Scharf, the CEO of Wells Fargo & Co (NYSE: WFC). (The Federal Reserve Board gave banks the greenlight to restart share buybacks after the market close Friday.)

Who is with Jim?

good money chasing bad - how much $ has been wasted on falsely inflating the stock price?? Seems they only want to do it when determining RSRs...

Buy on the rumors and sell on the news as they say. We're up around $8 over the last month so if you like it, buy it. If not, don't. Cramer likes it, Buffet doesn't. I got in around $20 and will get out when we get up around $40. Does anyone really care?

I’m intrigued that you automatically call people who have knowledge about the company and the stock market “bitter”. Perhaps you would have said the same to people warning you against Wachovia, Washington Mutual, Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, AIG, ToysRUs, Pan Am and on and on. We might be right and you might be wrong, who knows? Fortunately for all of us, the only person you are hurting by wearing your rose colored glasses is yourself. Have fun being your own worst enemy.

I love it - I hope people buy and get the stock back up so I can sell more.

The reality is there is no where to go but up.

Right now interest rates are historically low, we have the asset cap, and our expenses are through the roof. Throw in a global pandemic on top of it.

Rates will come back, asset cap will be lifted, expenses are getting the full treatment right now and the vaccines are being administered...

I don’t care how bitter you are against wells, all the signs are pretty good

Jim is a trader, so when he says that he likes the CEO, he means "I can make money on the stock in the near term." If our stock goes up, that's certainly good news–we have TMs that refuse to diversify and we have RSRs. Personally, I'm more concerned with long term performance. 5, 10, 20 years.

If Charlie Scharf approves putting money into buying company stock again, while we’re on the cost-cutting and oversight improving train, then we will know he’s a farce. So far, Wells Fargo has lost 40% of its investments in their own stock. I would imagine we still own the stock Tim Sloan spent $40 Billion on at all-time highs prices. That is money that should be spent on technology, improving Compliance and Risk, and attracting top talent.

If he does the right thing, I will give him respect for doing right by the company. If he doesn’t, than I will continue to declare him the wrong choice to lead us out of the terrible position we are currently in.
