Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Two types of companies

There are companies that care about their employees and are bending over backwards to find options that would help them avoid or at least minimize layoffs.

Then there are those that are using this crisis to cut as many people as possible under the guise of 'it's pandemic's fault.'

Guess which one is Wells Fargo?

They’ve been very clear from the top of the house going back probably 18 months that we were headed for substantial cuts. I think it’s actually taking LONGER because of COVID. If we hadn’t had the pandemic, Saul would have been through at least the first full phase of location strategy and maybe the 2nd phase. I think layoffs would have started earlier as well.

WF workforce was/is too big. Fine. Layoffs are no fun and I really feel for those getting pushed out. I just wish there was a more coherent strategy. I know some really good people who have left for greener pastures because they didn’t want to be twisting in the wind. We have layoff waves and everyone feels like they’re on the block every week when the reality is that most of the waves have been primarily focused on 1-2 business units. No reason everyone has to sweat each time.

The layoffs have nothing to do with covid, they're a direct response to the actions of the criminals who ran this firm in the past. Once again, we get to pay the price for the millions of dollars worth of golden handcuffs who were able to rip off our customers, ruin the firms name and then drift off with their package, what's behind is a burning mess of a firm and layoffs.

The amour of crying, b*ching and moaning on here is insane.

There are 2 types of companies. Those that hand out participation trophies and those that don’t

LOL! Who said the pandemic was the reason for layoffs? Stumpf said two years ago he would be laying people off and then he got canned so couldn’t follow through. This has been known to be coming literally for years.

I've seen some layoffs, and no one I know has said anything about the cause being COVID. It's possible of course, though the real reason would be the unreasonable response to COVID, which is it's own disease.
