New Software Developer Pens

Thing is being in technology is not as glamourous as it sounds.
They put together pens for the software engineers to work in. This is in dirty little buildings, with the open offices, but really its more like an animal pen. In these you are surrounded by people who feed on red bull and pizza. Also they are windowless and damp.
Do you know if the animal pens is serious especially with the pandemic?

On the flip side other domains sit in clean offices and cubicles with a large partition between them and others or a wall.

It is a strange post not sure how serious its intended to be but in St Louis one building containing all business is modern and new and slick, in the building where most tech people work the tech floors haven't been updated in 20 years and they are dreary and drab while "business" floors in the same building have been remodeled in recent past to resemble the business building.

well, i wouldnt smell them, but with pandemic seems like a risky layout.

This is a copy of what India uses for their seating arrangement. They dont like it either. Do you see the CEO or Execs sit in these kind of places?

Sad to say they care more about setting more operations up in India and training them than the people here. Sounds traitorous to me.

This is one strange post. Engineers don’t choose where they sit it how they’re decorated. The fact you call out “other domains” having nicer partitions literally means nothing. Tech used to have “nice partitions” and glass cubicles before but moved away from that because engineers need to talk all the time so why build walls and install expensive phone systems when you can know down partitions.

They have been working on these flex cubes for some time before Covid. The normal person would think you would go back to segregating people again to protect them but last I saw it doesn’t sound like it. More mismanagement of resources, human ones. Shocking, right?

Don’t believe any thought tech was glamorous. Frankly, tech at Wells Fargo as a whole is one big “pen”.
