Anybody can take full control of their 401K at age 59 1/2 and move it tax free to a Rollover IRA for pre-tax (traditional) IRAs, or in the case of a Roth (post tax) 401K to a rollover Roth or even just to cash in quite a few hardship and other cases where it can even be done tax and penalty free years earlier. If you’re still here a year later, you can (and absolute should) do it again.

If you’ve never done it first contact Vanguard, Schwab and Fidelity. They are as honest as Wells is dishonest and they will walk you through.

Obviously anyone in financial services would already know enough not to bank where they work. But they may not know about grabbing their 401s plans.

FINALLY! After 8 hours, numerous transfers and disconnections, I got through to a representative that took care of it. She was awesome!

That said, what an absolutely extremely frustrating and arduous day! It typifies why Wells has the negative reputation it does. While I have my mortgage with Wells, I've done my banking with a small local bank for the last ten+ years and I would not recommend Wells to anyone and encourage others to find and support your local small bank.

Keep my healthcare, vision and dental for my wife and I as well as the life insurance should something happen to me in the next 60 days. I want to cancel the HSA contribution and any other deduction from my paychecks. FYI.... Have now have been on hold for 7.5 hours!

That’s because you’re probably calling India. Expect for them to know nothing about what you’re asking and the call to be disconnected. It’s just like an IT problem. Until you get an American you will waste time trying.
