People please be careful with all of the bad advice here.

Post ID: @nja+18hot22x offers particularly bad advice:

“Don't allow Wells Fargo to continue to control the narrative. They laid you off so therefore go and find you another path. They didn't wait to "displace" you nor speak with you about it. It was all done in secrecy.”

Reality check: Wells is offering you 60 days of vacation and 2 weeks per year. Follow @nja’s advice and you very likely get nothing. Wells did write the contract for your benefit and some @ninja troll has no idea what he is babbling about.

how do you think wages are garnished for debt, child support etc? YOu think your earnings are private? Think again.

@1fyg+18hot22x what a load of bs. Unless you are employed by a government, your wages are private, and they can't do a background check unless you allow it.

I wouldn't try to double dip. Wages are reported to many state and federal agencies (at least quarterly) and they can probably easily find out if you're on a payroll making $, and ask you to re-pay. the benefit. Take some well deserved time off instead.

Really? 1 week. I had a company hold a job from Nov 2010 until end of March 2011 so I could collect full bonus at old company.

@1cyr+18hot22x read the FCRA. They have to get your permission. In fact, I just received settlement money from WF for a class action where they ran a report without my permission (as an employee). You must work in HR, there's no other reason why you would be so WF centric and ignorant.

During the 60 day notice period, you are still an employee of Wells Fargo. The 60 day notice is the WARN act notice required under Federal Law for layoffs. On the 61st day, your employment ends and your severance begins.

They pay severance every pay period to maintain your health coverage and Wells Fargo continues paying their portion of the health insurance cost. You notify Wells Fargo when you have new employment and / or are covered under new health insurance. At which time, they pay out the remaining severance as a lump sum.

If you start working for another employer during the 60 day notice period, you can be terminated immediately for violating the HR policy against doing the same work for another employer.

Now Wells does allow a second job if it does not conflict with your Wells position work schedule and is unrelated to your position for Wells Fargo. For example, you work on weekends for a DIY store to earn extra cash during the holiday season. Since a DIY store is not a financial institution and you are working outside your normal Wells work times, you can without violating HR policy. However, you can’t work for Chase while still in the employment of Wells Fargo.

Read the HR handbook on secondary jobs or business. You agreed to it when hired and annually acknowledged.

you can double dip, but if you accept that new position during the 60 day notice period and Wells finds out you will be asked to repay the severance you did receive and forfeit the rest. I have been thru this so I know very well how wells Fargo can find out about your new position. They can use social media post about your new job to getting detail credit reporting that will show your new position. The big one is an employment verification site that they give you access to showing detail salary and employer information. Roll the dice if you want.

This 60 day thing with you losing your severance if you start another job in that period must be illegal. It feels abusive at least. What is the benefit for Wells Fargo ? Why not terminate the employee immediately and have severance kick in immediately as well?

If it's 60 days no-work, then why would it matter if you accept the job prior to the end of continuation period? Double dip.

why wait to accept? you can just push start date out. This company is trying to drive up unemployment costs for the United States and will come out of everyones taxes. No company would hold a job for 60 days, usually max is one week.

Let the new company who you work for now and they probably will understand, maybe send a link to this webpage.

To keep the package, you can accept a new job but cannot start it until 60 day period is over. Start looking. If you find a new job and can wait the 60 days before beginning it, you will receive the a buy out of the package, a lump sum.

Yes you can start looking. The 60 day is not enforceable in court.

Speak to your HR severance department. I was given a severance package from BB&T a few months ago and I was allowed to work another job as long as it was not at BB&T. If I got a position at BB&T during severance period then I lost my severance. I got a job at another institution within a few weeks and I was collecting two paychecks for a while.

It’s best to speak with your HR about this type of stuff.

You can’t start until the 60 days is over. I am starting my new job the day after my notice period ends. I will be making $30k more per year too. Wells had been underpaying me for several years.

Don't allow Wells Fargo to continue to control the narrative. They laid you off so therefore go and find you another path. They didn't wait to "displace" you nor speak with you about it. It was all done in secrecy. You owe this place nothing & why would you want to come back here or be stalled by a place that would treat people like a number. If an opportunity comes along, examine the benefits, ask the right questions in the interview, do your own research of the company & take it. Yes the money would help whether its a lump sum or bi weekly after 60 days but the stress placed upon you by the establishment isn't.

you can certainly look for a new job, but you cannot start a new position until after the 60 days are over. That would result in losing severance benefits.

If you take a new job with a different company during the 60 day notice. It is considered a termination of employment and you will not be eligible for a service package. You can look for a job but wail until the 60 day notice period is over to accept one.
