Layoff 60 day pay

Instead of being paid like every other week, i just need a lump sum. Can i edit this papers, sign and send back? So the full cash amount is put in the next pay date. Also does this affect benefits?

For the 60 day non-working notice period, you are still fully employed in every sense except having to show up and do work. Period. If you accept another job and they find out, it will be just like you were working and accepted another job - no severance, no severance pay or benefits.

You have all of your regular benefits and cannot get a lump sum.

After the 60 day period, if you accept a benefits-eligible position and notify them in writing, you will get the remainder of your severance in a lump sum.

Bonuses and lump sum payments aren't taxed differently. They may have different withholding schedules but that has nothing to do with tax owed when filing.

Ask HR, not us internet randos.

This is one time when HR may actually be your friend.

Also, you should check out the tax consequences of a lump sum payout with an accountant (not an anonymous chat room). Similar to bonus vs salary, it's possible that severance pay vs a lump sum payout could be taxed differently.

I definitely would not suggest marking up your documents, and sending them back. If you alter them, WF will consider them void. Get your brave on, and call HR about a lump sum.

Wouldn't hold my breath for a stimulus check, but if there is one there will be eligibility requirements spelled out.

If I have health insurance through my wife's employer, can I get the lump sum without having to get another job first? I do not see that scenario in the benefits description.

You can only get a lump sum if you can show you have accepted a new position with benefits. At that point you get the cash and benefits stop. You cannot get the cash and keep the benefits.
