And i can really use the extra unemployment money to cover other stuff coz thepackage will only go to mortgage and car pyment (and formula and diapwrs lol)

In the displacement package it states you can apply for unemployment and they will not contest it. However you cannot claim it while you still are receiving a paycheck. It doesn't matter if it's a paycheck or it's a severance paycheck. Once you're done receiving your severance you can login and start a claim for unemployment. I know that seems back aswords but that's what the paperwork says.
In California you can get unemployment. Severarance does not preclude payments by EDD.
"You may apply for unemployment benefits... once you have completed your Notice Period... In some states, unemployment benefits will not be paid until your employment with WF has been terminated at the end of your Salary Continuation Leave."

I know that with unemployment (in CA) you have to certify each week that you have not received income. From what I’ve read, salary continuation counts as income.
I'm wondering the same thing. The EDD office phone # says they have too many callers and cannot answer the phone at this time. I guess I will drive to the nearest office to ask. Since its stated as continuation pay and not severance we won't qualify for unemployment until that is done but I'm wondering if I still have to apply for unemployment Now regardless.
Each state varies but when you apply for unemployment, you can't be receiving any income so it's best to apply after the severance payments run out. Unemployment will ask you that and you better be truthful because if they find out you were receiving money and you still applied for u/e while receiving that money, you will have to pay that money back to unemployment.
In 2008 I was laid off and if you took a class then you got unemployment as well but I would check the laws today
Usually you can apply but the fact that you are receiving money will disqualify you from receiving unemployment funds until your severance payments stop. But definitely look into it, COVID has changed things up.
