Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Displacement severance.

I was ‘displaced’ yesterday with the only explanation that it was a business decision, it was assured to me that there was no way it was based off the activities cause I performed above the ones who stayed. There is no way it was based off senority since our most senior PB 1 was also let go. And it couldn’t be off of qualifications, I have my bachelors, notary, medallion certification, and started my masters. The only other explanation I got was an outside HR department decided. Now I received my severance packet and if I do sign I can’t sue WF in the future or take any action, but if I do I only get paid for 8wks. I keep trying to figure out what the decision was based off. When you hear all across the district of who got let go the only pattern I saw was that almost all of us were Hispanic. That’s not saying other people weren’t let go but in my region at least there’s a large discrepancy.

All of the cuts were based off performance. That’s why senior bankers were cut over some newer staff. CNA’s, credit, and other overall performance was taken in place.

I work for the company as a PB1 and two of my coworkers were let go Friday. Both were with the company longer than me. I am the last PB hired at my branch. If they do further cuts, I think I may be next. I wouldn’t be mad and the uncertainty of it all is stressful. Good luck to everyone.

OP, nothing you mentioned makes you special. There are literally thousands of unemployed college graduates with useless degrees. I notice you don't mention what field your bachelor's degree was in. Pretty much anyone can be a notary if they pay the fee. The Medallion certification is for one of the most obsolete services WF still offers. You started your master's degree? Good. What field? If you are so qualified, why are you working as a pb at a bank, let alone WF?

Im in the exact same situation. Notary, medallion certified, bachelors degree
Let go, by a manager in tears, she didnt even wanna let me go. It ok theres a brighter future ahead. They say my position was eliminated and my branch was over staffed. But yet the newest bankers still has a job.. whatever they can have it.

I quit in March as a PB2 after 5 years and wish I had done it sooner. Lets be honest what did you actually do? Since 2016 and the elimination of sales goals, the banker position is literally just order taking i.e. replacing debit cards, safe deposit box, wire transfers and helping id–ts with $36 to their name read their bank statement or beg for overdraft fees back. With no widget sales goals, the bank knows there is no motivation for a majority of bankers which is why they only want licensed team members who have investment goals which brings the bank $$$. Seriously, the bankers in my branch and every branch I went to would dread every customer that came through the door wasting their time not to mention since there is literally no bonus aside from the asinine gallop surveys that pay you like $600 a quarter haha. Trust me bud it's a blessing in disguise.

There was a plan, pre Covid to eliminate the PB1 position. Covid may have tweaked the plans with so many on leave but that was rather plan way back in the beginning of the year.

Hispanics are extremely valuable because a lot of them speak fluent Spanish and can serve Latin American clients. I'm sure you won't have trouble finding work elsewhere. What state are you in?

Well, the CSSR job family was totally eliminated. Then I heard the PB1 positions in branches who were over their staffing allotments were let go. I don’t think performance came into play. If the branch was over staffed and you were the most recently hired PB1 then you would be displaced.
