Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Severance/ Pay Continuation

Does anyone have the information? My manager wasn't sure. And I was in hold with hr for 2 hours just for the call to get disconnected.

Hey @rbr, posting the same question on every post isnt helping.

I only know of white folks let go so far, but I only know of a few people who have been let go, that's why I'm here.

I don't think Wells is stupid enough in 2020 to do what you seem to be implying, but I don't know for sure.

At a few other companies I had to let people on my teams go for various reasons (I am not a people manager at Wells).

I would invite the person to a conference room, tell them they were being let go and why, and then let HR in the room and leave.

This is how HR showed me to do it and they explained why it was done that way.

It's partly to protect the company (you need to be careful what you say) and partly to remove the manager from a situation they probably aren't comfortable with, and to make sure the person being let go didn't have a bad reaction.

I'm pretty sure Wells does something similar and I'm sure I'll find out myself soon.

I was told I would get an email with the info and forms to sign. 60 days paid plus 8weeks minimum. I think I can file for unemployment afterwards but I'm still contacting EDD asap. Im not signing until I read everything & call a labor office.

It’s not in the employee handbook.
It’s in the “Benefits Book” chapter 14. You can just Google Wells Fargo Benefits Book and see section 14.

I don’t know a single manager in any large company that would give you severance info once you are laid off. That is HR’s job.

All a manager has to do is try and be friendly and help you out with info and make one small mistake. Like quoting an extra week, extra $1,000, whatever

And then you have grounds for a legal case if the amount you get differs from what your manager acting on behalf of Wells Fargo told you.

It’s way too much risk for a manager and for the company. They will point you to HR every time

It’s in the employee handbook. I’d email the links to you if tree I had your work email address. It’s difficult to find because it’s not called severance package. It goes by years of service

Once you get laid off your manager has to stick to the script Hr gives them to read and that’s it. As soon as he recited the last word in the script he is effectively no long Ed your manager and it is HR’s job to provide all guidance and answers from there.

Your manager can only get himself in trouble talking to your outside of the exact HR guidelines that have been set.

The policy, as others have said, is on teamworks, and on teamworks at home in the Benefits book.

if you got displaced, the information specific to your situation is coming to you via a fed ex package.

Policies change so often these days (some of which gets announced and some of it doesn't), a manager (or anyone for that matter) can't know everything. The benefits book on TW is the official document and it's available to every employee.

It's pretty much two weeks for each year you worked for wf.

Your manager definitely had the information. I believe it is 60 days and then 2 additional weeks for every year you worked.
