Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Ratings and layoffs

Are the folks that are getting laid off rated 2's or lower (even if not warranted), during this past mid-year review? Or is it across the board, when it comes to ratings?

@mll+18g8fbvo you were let go, not because you are a minority, but because you're illiterate and do not have a functional understanding of conversational English.

In the past, there were times when an entire job function would be wiped out ( especially non direct revenue generating jobs) and your rating didn’t matter at all. Individuals with strong track records would get hit in these layoffs and some would be brought back into a new role in a month or two, usually in a different area. BUT there aren’t many of those roles to “ hide” people in right now. At other times a high performing employee would be laid off and a low performing employee would stay. If you did a little digging it was usually a case of low performer was suing so basically unable to be displaced. And yes, sometimes just the bottom performers were cut. Don’t assume a great rating will protect you. But DO gear up your resume, take a HARD look around and decide if you’re willing to move/ change specialities etc and get searching. Anyone at wells who is not currently looking at all their options is sticking their head in the sand. No the bank won’t fail. But it is going to shrink. Any promises previously made to you, any supposed development path you were on will not protect you. It’s a new day and everything will be based on “ what have you or your business line done for Charlie lately”. And keep in mind he comes with a bias for business lines that were successful at Chase. He only understands that model and wants to be the next Jamie Dimon. If you or your business line don’t fit that profile...search harder.

the ratings are fake, they are just trying to get rid of people without having to pay; plus managers not qualified to do ratings, nor higher management or HR

I was rated a 2 after being rated 4 or 5 for nearly 20 years. I was then laid off in October.

this is dumb, see like you need to compare apples to apples, but issue is managers , or at least mine doesnt even know what i do.

In any case, more important than fake ratings, i just set up a side hustle. Right now i am getting about $300/day on ads on the site. I am working on another idea now to increase this higher.

Please don’t try and turn this into a race thing. People of all shapes, colors and sizes are being let go.

I know an entire team that was displaced. All the Caucasians, all the minorities. All the senior and junior people. All the too performers and the dead wood. Everyone got cut.

Wells is getting rid of tens of thousands of employees

I am not in a branch but still concerned about layoffs. I was not given a rating at the mid year review due to being on leave for several months. I am wondering if that makes me vulnerable to layoffs. Typically, I have performed very well. My manager claims he has not heard about layoffs in my department but a few managers above my direct manager were laid off due to spans and layers.

Worried if my N/A rating will make me more likely to be targeted.

Was let go today I think there may of been some similarities of who was let go. Was any a minority?

I was a 3 and one of top sales individual. Only one 4 given out across entire team to a very tenured employee. Rating made no difference as some 3s were displaced and some were kept. Even though I had strong performance I was displaced.

The ratings are fake, managers not qualified to give them. Most have no clue what domain they are even managing.

It's across abroad! Managers are not transparent about the reason behind the layoff. Ditto, I have rated 3 this mid year review.
