Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Call centers anyone?

I work by SanFrancisco. I work from home now. We were told we’d be displaced last year when the lease on our building was coming up. They had relocated a lot of people. But the ones who stayed knew it was a matter of time. COVID came. We (20 call center reps) are still working for WF but from home. They have a small office now, but not fit for a call center. Anyone know anything?
Thanks.

I would recommend looking, since it appears you are worried, especially since they already said it in the past. It is very hard to leave when you work somewhere so long, but I just left too, it is very sad too. I do have another offer with about 40k pay increase and the full package

I am already feeling the anxiety and worry is about gone from my system so i can get back to a normal life. Really your health if it goes bad you cannot get it back easy. A job is an easy thing to replace. I have good health now and did not want it destroyed working through this when there are so many other options.

Call center employees are the easiest to move or cut off at home, all they have to do is give you a laptop, remote access ability, and then put your home/cell number in the PBX.

You'll be kept as long as convenient, then you can be let go and your number can be changed to some cheaper area code. No face to face is necessary.

Call center employees are the first thing to get outsourced during times of corporate contraction.

if you were already told you'd be gone, I wouldn't expect that to have changed. Especially in CA where they're looking to not continue to hire there. If I were you, I'd be making sure my resume was up to date and looking elsewhere as you're just waiting for the axe to drop by staying at this point.

Wow. We have call center people with California wages? How expensive and inefficient. I would look for another role ASAP. They could pay someone in Panama or Wv $8 or less an hour
