Yes, get BYOD to show you’re online and say you can’t go back to the office because of a preexisting condition.
anything that makes your job better so you will want to stay, answer is NO! DONT ASK AGAIN!
What does this have to do with Layoffs?
What do we do if we’re working five 10s
Managers have some discretion in that area. I had a co-worker that worked out four 10 hour days to accommodate daycare issues he was having. He did this for about a year, then moved back to five day schedule. I also had a co-wprker who moved to a different LOB (Corp Trust) because they allowed her to work 4 tens. She was an Ops Analyst 5 or 6.
It depends on the group. Often times, a 4 day week includes a weekend day. Anything is possible though, it just depends on business needs of the group you work for.
I know of one employee in my department who works 10 hours for four days and takes off on Fridays. I don’t know how he/she got that going; may be an arrangement made with previous manager/s.
Officially no, but I (former employee) worked with my manager to change to a reduced work/reduced pay (80%, Fridays off) a few years ago in order to complete my business doctorate. I recall calling the HR service center to see what options were available as well (as recommended by my manager). Bottom line is that if you have a personal justification for doing so and it will not negatively impact the business (and you are willing to be flexible and available where needed) your department manager/senior management may be willing to consider it. Be cautious though, since you may be perceived to be 'less desirable' for new opportunities and/or increases (although it would never been said.
