Even though Verizon touts itself as a socially conscious company, the RIFs continue because the company needs capital to build out the Intelligent Edge Built Right 5G network. Before 5G they needed capital to build out the FiOS network. After 5G, something else will come along.

It is not hard to justify RIFs just because of the DOW being down. Please. People are losing their jobs everywhere - even with your observation. Verizon is no different. And worse than ever since Hans took over. Just look at what he did prior to VZ.
Good to see the threads on salary range, bonus rules, and how do I get a raise. Are people no longer worried about keeping their job? I know your always looking over your shoulder especially if you are in IT (GTS).

I think OP means the large scale RIFs we've had over the past couple of years Thursday before Thanksgiving to be off the books at end of year. I haven't heard of that either. Folks have been trained into other roles to keep as many of us afloat. I don't think those kind of RIFs will happen for a while yet since it won't be good for the Verizon brand.
We do have smaller scale RIFs happen regularly year round.
Would not mind it, honestly.
