I hate these things. Anyone can say something negative and give you an unfair rating.

I'm not ready. I don't even know what I was supposed to be doing last year, so how can I be honestly rated on it?
But whatever it is, I guess I did a good job of it. I'm sure I'll get a rating of 3 or 4 and a 1% raise just like I have every other year.
Big waste of time.
It'll be like every year... A great rating, a cost of living raise, a bonus, and no promotion.
Review process here is overly negative.
"you sound like the lowest form of worker in IT –> an "order taker".
In this field we need people who can think and use their brain to solve complex problems. You can take the "order takers" to the drive thru's"
Grow up and get off your high horse. No one is impressed with IT, especially at WFC. I know it's hard to grasp, but tasking you to use that alleged brain of yours IS an order. Or do you really think that 'micro managing' and 'orders' are the same thing? lol, bless your little heart.
I'll get a 4 and a c-appy raise. The bonus will probably be junk too.
Bring it! I've done a good job all year.
Waste of time. More progressive and innovative companies have dumped these archaic rituals
We’re going backwards with the 1-5 rating though
@ztw+18T61j3z, you sound like the lowest form of worker in IT –> an "order taker".

@ztw+18T61j3z nailed it. Other posters sound as if their first reply is always “no” vs “let me verify that” regardless of the ask. It’s quite easy to be a “super star” saying yes, no, let me verify that and that sounds like it would introduce risk.” Seems like a lot of salty employees work in terrible departments. My only poor experiences are with employees outside of my own. Good managers build up a good team. Except of course if you head up a horribly failed Puppet project then somehow parlay that into a positive and end up in a serious management position.
An employee 'taking orders' and an employee 'thinking' is hardly mutually exclusive. In fact, the only time it would be is when someone is receiving an immoral/illegal/noncompliant order. Maybe those are a thing in your department, but not in mine. You sound like one of those people that likes to come up with reasons/excuses not to do their job.
I'm ready. I'm leaving either way, so at this point it is just going to be interesting to see how it plays out. After consistent 4s and strong reviews for years, I'm definitely curious how the new bell curve will impact this.
The communication with management is horrible and arbitrary. Do what you think is a great job all year, expect a good rating and get a surprise during the review. The time to bring up these issues about what management's expectations are should not be once a year during the review after it's too late.
@kwb+18T61j3z. yea I agree the rating system here is rigged; they only give high ratings to order takers. The lowest form of any area, people who cannot think.
hard work is in the eye of the beholder. plenty of people who think if they come in and sit in a chair for 8+ hours they are superstars, but the superstars are those who come in and produce more widgets, better widgets in half the time.
When I was at another company, I was in the learning ropes but I worked my behind off and the manager gave me such a below rating . She was clearly out to get rid of me. Happens no matter how hard you try.
not really a fair assessment since most of the management has no experience in tech, at least for me. I personally dont take it as any accuracy to it
No worried, I'm sure it will go well. Always does.
