Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

No more 60 day notice period

I was looking at the 2021 employee handbook changes. It looks like Wells Fargo cut the 60 day notice period to all future displaced employees. Any chance I’m misreading or misunderstanding the edits?

It does seem like most notices are non-working these days, which is actually kind of awesome...basically like an extra 60 days of severance, which is especially helpful for people with few years of service. One thing to watch out for though, if you accept another position elsewhere during that notification period you forfeit your severance from Wells...so as you search for a new position make sure your start date is after your 60 day notice period. Once you're into the Salary Continuation Plan phase, getting a new job = a lump sum of all of your remaining severance, which is great. Just don't screw yourself out of thousands of $ by starting somewhere else "to soon".

You still get 60 days, but you will likely will not have to work any of it.

The confusion may have been with the wording of the Benefits Book mentioning that you have ".. 45 days beginning with the first day of the Notice Period to consider the terms... "
A link to the Policy showing that the Notice Period is 60 days would be a good addition to the benefits book and clarify any confusion.

Displacement policy clearly states WF must provide a 60 day notice period.

Oh God, not this again. Go to Policy Library, search for Displacement, and read the Displacement Policy. It's still 60 days. Nothing has changed but this just keeps popping up!

@ jjx, I didn't get a sixty day notice at a previous company. H/R just called me in, sat me down and that was that.

It's moved to the policy library by the look of it. Things seem pretty much as they were previously. Maybe a legal thing as WARN notification periods are a state by state requirement.
