Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Branch Closings

My rough estimate from the OCC site is 406 closures in Q4 2020. Not sure how that has been kept so quiet. I've only seen a couple of local articles mention the closures for their geography.

My group is making some marketing material for Q2 this year. They made us change the branch total and drop it to 4800. So we have a few more to go over the next few months. The impact is interesting though. I have friends working in a branch and people from closed branches have been taking positions at other branches. Only a couple of them don’t get a spot, but they’re half way out of the door anyways. Naturally attrition at its best.

OMG people, i can’t believe that our execs said they would trim our branches down to about 4,000 and now they actually are doing that. It’s an outrage, why didn’t i get warned about this!!!

Because this is normal. Banks open and close branches all the time.

Each branch has 10-20 employees, or 4000-8000 layoffs. Or about 7 to 15 % of the 50k goal. Will there be more branches closed in 2021?

That's a start...I wonder about the total # for 2020 branch closures.
