Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WFC posts are telling

Compared to other company layoff posts WFC by far is the most pitiful, juvenile, whiny and unprofessional. Not all but definitely more than average.

Just had my 25th anniversary at Wells. Up to 7 weeks vacation now. Got promoted mid year with nice increase in salary. Love my manager. Hard work evidently pays off...

I think that the overall negativity and the pitiful, juvenile, whiny and unprofessional posts are about par for the course. After a decade of non stop corruption and scandal we are going into heavy duty displacements and cost cutting. The uncertainty and the outcomes will be quite brutal to many and the uncertainty is stressful to all.

I don’t see the tenor of the board as negative at all compared to other companies going through the same issues. Scharf’s approach is extremely Numbers oriented, cold and unemotional. It is very difficult psychologically to go through this.

this board is useful to me.
a huge majority of people here are decent.
granted that it's anonimous, i am surprised how clean the board is.
just look at facebook, so full of vitriol. twitter is even worse.

The majority of Wells Fargo employees are decent and experienced hard-working people. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. No one is better than anyone else.

Employee A might be excellent at IT, but poor at working within a team. Employee B might have just come over from BAC with some great skills, but is disruptive and uncooperative. Employee C might be have the knowledge to execute the necessary work- arounds on the outdated existing technology, but might not be great with newer technology.

Good leadership is about putting people where they will shine. It’s been a rough road at Wells Fargo, so I automatically discount anyone who boosts their own self esteem by criticizing others.

We are all just trying to live our own version of the good life.

I follow many boards on TLO - ckeck out Union Pacific or Intel... Our board is actually very decent compared to others.

“I would wager the majority of the complainers...”

Don’t be so hard on yourself. I don’t think all of your posts are garbage, just the ones where you put down people to stand up for a corporation. I think if you were kinder to yourself, you might be kinder to others too. Happy New Year to you and those you love.

Three things:

  1. I would wager the majority of the complainers on here are the same people, just posting a lot and guess 70% are in technology and as of late, 10-20% are in retail.
  2. This board is much more active than other companies in FS, and people like to complain, especially with layoffs happening frequently and other big changes for employees.
  3. There's trolls on this board, some admit it, but many don't and are posting the same garbage posts on multiple company pages looking to stir the pot and or get insights for their news articles. You can't feed the trolls folks.

So no, this doesn't "tell" anything about WF.

I actually agree with you on that. But that is one comment. I’m out here a lot and I don’t remember it because I skipped over it. Could also be a troll looking to aggravate you. And, sadly, they did. There is a lot of good commentary out here as well. I would say to skip over the comments that bother you and focus on the ones where you get value. And if you aren’t getting any value from this board, then it would be better for you (and everyone) if you stayed off of it. But I don’t get people who go out of their way to purposely hurt others.

The best example of what the OP is talking about is that one post where someone said:

“I missed the benefits deadline...I am annoyed they didn’t send more reminders”

Great example of the victim mentality too many wells employees have

I would like an answer to the question, asked of the OP, by the first person who replied:

How many of the other companies, here, are under an asset cap imposed by regulators for fraud and failure to supervise? Same question to anyone here who took the time to agree with OP.

Anyone who posts a legitimate opinion piece should first do their homework and be able to back up their comments with facts. If they aren’t able to do that, then whatever they have to say is just writing garbage.

To.

Post ID: @jvl+18Cl1Lev. “Someone with such intellectual superiority”

Thank you! I agree 100% with your critique of the OP and Post ID: @vdk+18Cl1Lev What kind of people put those kinds of posts out into the world the day or two after Christmas? As you say, best of luck in their search for common decency. Good job.

Someone with such intellectual superiority SHOULD be able to recognize just how much a rant such as that is proving the exact points he or she criticizes so strongly.
Best of luck in your search. I hope wherever you land is prepared for you.

Hey OP!

Sorry if losing my job has ruined your day. Same to Post ID: @vdk+18Cl1Lev and all his/her childish agreement replies to their own post.

The problem with intellectual id–ts is that they don’t know they are intellectual id–ts. You have probably had everything handed to you and thus don’t know what it’s like to suffer a loss in life. Your day will come. But even though you sound like spoiled children, I still don’t wish that on you.

Ok -it’s time to trip your grandma for entertainment, and then go laugh at a disabled kid. Because that is what socially inept people like you do.

I call BS. OP is one of 2 things:

  1. A troll who drops his/her little troll-t–ds on multiple sites to get people stirred up.
  1. A non-empathetic victim-shamer. Someone who would blame the employees of Enron for their anger for bearing the weight of their CEO’s crimes. Same person who would blame women for being wary of men after she was s-xually assaulted (“Get over it!”). Same type of person who shames sick people for “being a downer.”

The worst of the worst.

@vdk+18Cl1Lev, you are right for sure, this place makes toxic look like it would be better. I have honestly never worked in any place like this. I am not even sure why it has not been questioned for the labor law/criminal violations, not to mention stealing from customers. With all the harassment and the employees and middle manager schemes, i really was very worried for my health working there (mental and physical). I really think its time to just go in and look at how long people have worked here and move them over to bank of america anyone over 8 years of tenure. The rating system is useless in this scenerio, as there are far bigger issues and most of these tech jobs are not tech at all, they are secretary roles.

Also not to leave out, the middle managers are the orchestra leaders, they want these long time workers so they tell them stand and then stand, they say sit and they sit. But what they do is far more toxic, Thing is none of them have the skills to work a real tech job, so they do whatever it takes to work here and do close to nothing and most of it is non technical.

This!

I've thought about posting something very similar to this after constantly being shocked by how these so-called "team members" speak to one another. I wondered if it was common across the site, so I perused the most active company boards (listed on the front page) as well as some companies I worked for in the past and knew had a less than stellar culture. I was only able to find a single example that even comes close to what we see on nearly every post on the WF board.

People at those other companies are upset for sure, understandably so. But none of them direct such hatred and venom towards each other.

A few of the responses to this post alone prove your point, others are clearly just caught up in their little echo chamber of awfulness and can't comprehend how different the outside world is at nearly every other company on the planet. I for one hope they all stay here. Keep them nicely self-contained so the rest of us don't have to worry about them tainting other better run organizations.

why on earth is this OP comparing to other boards? I heard he compared to tech companies that have had 400% increases and stealing all the business from these stage coaches that are living in wrong time.

Is this how a sane person does comparisons?

@vgg+18Cl1Lev. If employees die every day to get paid every two weeks, they should be insisting on daily pay. I know that I would anyway...

How many other boards have traffic and are actively going through layoffs? This board has both and half the posts seem to be trolls just looking for reactions. The more traffic a board has, the more trolls come out.

That’s why WF is doing all the layoffs ... WF still has many more in the future... can’t change the culture with the same people that created the mess! Just give it time... WF needs a total facelift

I just don’t see reality setting in here yet. People are pining for a bank that never was. It’s like there’s no sense of the history of scandal and fraud. Certainly no sense of the unbelievably lucrative San Fran tech salaries for embarrassingly old and antiquated tech. A sense of entitlement despite non competitive operations, risk, tech and products.

I predict a painful year ahead. People just seem to be in denial of what’s coming.

The worst place to work! Employees die every day to get paid every two weeks, not worth it. I feel lucky for those who have been laid off.

That’s because Wells Fargo is the worst of the companies. How many of the other companies, here, are under an asset cap imposed by regulators for fraud and failure to supervise? Get that figure together and then come back to us.
