The way i got lead is i worked just 20% harder than my coworkers. I worked some evenings and an occassional weekend. The coworkers here are so lazy it was like no competition.
Make yourself the most knowledgeable person on the team on that tech stack or code base. Just putting in a little extra work so you can move up. This will help you switch to a new company quicker, you may be able to job hop a few times then you can land your job at a top tier tech company. Make sure not to stay in one job, you need to focus on building your resume. If you can get one top tier tech company on your resume, only working there a few months, that will open tons of doors as you move forward.
After building your resume, when you are like my age - 30's, it will be time to take your side hustles as your full time work. By that time you will be ready.

I am not sure , but i have like 8 interviews thru Friday, most are first ones. If anything happens next week, there will be plenty of coal in teh fire to fuel for my job search. I really have spent a lot of time on the phone this week identifying, working network and trying to get a new job. This company seems like its the end of times for sure.
I am pretty sure i can get a job within 1-2 weeks with so many interviews. The comment about # of jobs in some areas of IT is correct. Not sure about other areas.

It is sad but life goes on. Plenty of other jobs out there.
This could be the start of something good for many who find a job elsewhere that makes them happy
How are these layoffs determined? Random, performance based or locality? Anyone know exactly?
Gotta persevere, take the good w/ the bad and keep fighting the good fight.
It's too sad to think about. I don't want to hear about anyone losing their livelihood during a pandemic but I know it's happening.
And it's going to keep happening.
I want to buy a home . I can't do that because who knows how much time I have here? Awful times but I am hopeful that we're all going to get through this.
