So this isn’t about a Minnesota /Colorado location strategy? :/
Layoffs makes co location bit easy for management. They can eliminate as many positions as they can instead relocating. At the end of it they will not achieve what they are looking for with less expenses..
Interesting that the location strategy plan was placing 1000's of us in the NYC Metro area... Latest mentioned locations were 'low cost' offices. This whole thing will need to be revisited with office costs in mind.
What a shame. They gave me 20k to relocate right when the pandemic hit, so I haven't used it. They should cancel this, save jobs, and get the best talent available.
There’s a replay that was just sent out for those that missed it and think they’re missing something shared.. don’t say we didn’t warn you, you can never get that hour of your life back
"Get busy workin' in the office, or get busy workin' somewhere else."
Look they are not going to renege on their hub strategy, because Charlie wants butts in the seats in the hubs. He doesn’t want work from home period. Mandy and her peers are not going to go against Charlie. So as long as Charlie is CEO, there will be the hub strategy and no permanent work from home. Expect to return back to the office as soon as they determine it is safe to return (even if employees disagree). That is just the way it is.
the fact is, long term, the location strategy is not going away. It's a major expense lever and it's still on the table.
How that manifests over the next 12-18 months may be subject to delays, twists and turns due to COVID. You won't get a firm answer because (1) it's all being worked through, and (2) even as things are decided they may be confidential until all aspects of approval are done.
There literally wasn’t anything said to share.. normal Mandy nonsense. Basically same old song and dance- co-location is preferred; She “thinks” the locations are still the same they’re still assessing the situation blah blah blah. That’s why other said “nothing to share” because it was really a pointless call.
I had the impression it was “dropped for now but we could pick it up again any time”. That’s not a drop so much as a dribble.
Saul indicated way back in May, the strategic location was 'dropped'. Is there renewed interest in doing this again?
I haven’t heard someone use the word obtuse since Shawshank Redemption
: @cdf+17uaKAv4 people arent being obtuse, you just can't comprehend English. She didn't really say anything that hasn't been said before. A lot of doublespeak, no firm answers.
She said they're still planning on implementing the hub location strategy, despite Covid, and that whenever that ends she will be wanting people back in the office. Although she emphasized that there's no hiring freeze (take with huge grain of salt), they are only hiring/backfilling in hubs. Without giving specifics she seemed to be trying to convey that she is stubbornly against wfh.
Those were the details I remember, plus her usual platitudes about diversity.
Several people in this string have already said nothing of significant was shared. If a new policy on WFH was announced, I figure we'd all remember.
I think if you follow the news, we’re about a year out from it being safe or sane to return to the office, Mandy or Saul can say whatever they will about future plans. Nothing matters until the rubber hits the road.
I am not sure why people aren’t being helpful, simple question what did she say, simple answer she said 1-2-3
Why all the arguing And schooling back and forth?
Why rely on a summary of what someone in another group heard in a meeting, and assume it will tell you EXACTLY what is going to happen? Deep breaths. If it's not clear from the email you referenced, ask your management for clarification.
I appreciate your options but I would like to know what exactly did she say as another email was sent from CO quoted what she said and indicated that thats what is going to happen after WFH ends and the future of WFH and location strategy. So please can someone mention what did she say as raw as it was so we know what exactly os going to happen?
@dgy+17uaKAv4 You said it perfectly bubba.
@dgy
Will you please be more specific? I am not in that org/LOB, but would like to know more specifically as it may be applied universally.
nothing of value was said
