Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Furloughs?

This is not just about WF but it seems to me furloughs (forced unpaid time off with benefits retained) are not used much for white collar jobs. Wouldn’t be ideal for all, but could be implemented very quickly. Usually furloughs are full time and last weeks or months - here it would likely be better as 1 day per week.

Never would work at Wells. What exempt employee who already works more than 40 hours, would continue to do so to get job done yet get their pay cut by one day?

@nda+17mtYEzr no one is working for free. It's mandatory time off with no pay. JFC.

There are a ton of contractors in the trenches at WF that are just as involved as their colleagues and have needed skills. Forcing many to work 4-day weeks -especially after bringing them on with 40hr wk agreement will incentivize them to leave. This may sound ideal but having thousands of these folk leave in short order will leave many holes, blow up project deadlines and put a ton of extra work on the ever-dwindling number of FTEs.

I guess that’s one way to get expenses, just pay people for four days a week. It does nothing to address the lack of efficiency that has built up over the years though, and would make progress even slower.

It demonstrates willingness to do what?

Good point. The contractor thing is like what during holiday down weeks in dec / nov? That won’t save much $ but demonstrates willingness.
