There are several adamant supporters on this Lay-off board who repeatedly take the stand of “drain the swamp”, “Charlie is getting paid $36.5 million to take the heat for layoffs”, “Embrace what’s happening”, “Charlie needs to fix our efficiency ratios”, “Charlie is here to thin the herd”, “Now we have to pay the piper or we all die”, “lots of dead weight around here“ etc......
Honest answers:
How many of the Charlie supporters think they will NOT be in the 25% who is cut? And please say why you think you will not be cut. Will you have the same POV if you are cut? I’m curious, I guess, from a sociological standpoint.
In other words, I think there is a natural tendency for people to think the “bad performers” or the “deadweight” is not themselves. Also it is a survival instinct: the weak must go so the strong can survive.
I’m close to retirement so, personally, I will be fine either way. But I do worry for my fellow hardworking team mates who might be sent packing when their only crime was hoping for/working towards better days at Wells Fargo.
I’m heading out to happy hour (earned it today 🥃), so I probably won’t comment until tomorrow morning, but I would be very interested to hear your genuine thoughts.
