I know this isn’t an ideal time to job hunt, but curious to hear from those that WFH, what they do and if they feel their position is at high risk? I know “no one is safe” but trying to explore options for the future. I’ve really enjoyed the work life balance WFH has provided while maximizing my efficiency these last few months, that I would love to learn what other WFH with (90k+ salary) are out there.

WFH 17 years. No where near a hub. Was given relo or severance option at beginning of year. Once COVID-19 hit, they push it out, then ultimately said it was off the table and I was safe. I don’t feel safe. I expect to get the call again before the year is up.
I heard that companies have to ask employees if they feel safe to come back to the office. Otherwise they are at risk of risking peoples lives.
I dont feel a company outside the medical industry is qualified to make these choices. Look at what JP Morgan just did to their employees. Horrible
Been perm WFH for 7 years. Techincal Business Services Associate.
Since I'm in California and not in a core location I expect to be laid off by the end of the month. They started throwing the "you'll need to come to an office in the future" line around last year.
The one saving grace may be that our group is well-liked by our internal customers, handles a large volume of work, and is running pretty efficiently. We're also at the spans and layers number, though on a call yesterday I got the impression that management is now looking for ways to cut us.
This is actually a great time to job hunt. Update your linkedin and you’ll be surprised how many recruiters are hiring right now and don’t care where you live. As Wells is (talking about) doubling down on the location strategy, more and more tech employers are abandoning it.

i wasnt sure if any company would go back to an office ever, but looks like that is very likely; i am in the technical field and i also agree there is a good job market and should be able to move to another company and make more money too. My goal is to find a permanent remote position. Office work is obsolete and no longer requried with the technical advances over the past decade.
Dude everyone outside of branch people and a select few in various operations groups are working from home right now. Regardless of title.
So everyone will be back in the office in 2021 sometime? I know a lot of key people who have worked here for years who are no where near a core location. You are saying all those will be in trouble?

telecommuters not in a core location should be polishing their resumes... as a telecommuter myself I have applied for a multitude of roles across various groups and have not gotten anywhere because I do not live in a core location.
I’ve been doing server support for 5+ years and always been WFH as has my entire team. My new official title is Infrastructure Engineer.
