Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Wells Fargo is offshoring really good Risk and Compliance jobs to India and Phillipines

All, do a job search for Wells Fargo jobs in India and the Philippines. You will see they are hiring VP level jobs in Compliance, Risk and Business Controls, some even requiring FINRA licenses. This is the REAL why the Chief Risk Officer, MN, is not backfilling jobs. She is sending your job overseas! Keep that in mind when you vote for our next President. Who has a plan to stop offshoring of American jobs? What will be left for our kids? This is so sad.

Seems like we’re filling open positions again in Risk?

I'm interested in how this plays out with the regulators. WF got smacked around a few years ago because so many people in risk didn't have certifications (CISA, CISSP). When I was hired six years ago, you had to have at least one of these certs. None of the job roles for risk in India require any type of certification. I wonder if the regulators are aware of that or if it's another item WF swept under the rug.

Wells Fargo has been expanding its business operations in India and Philippines for many years and will continue to expand. I believe there is over 20,000 in India and over 10,000 in the Philippines. JP Morgan Chase has even more employees in Philippines than Wells.

he cant save our jobs. he started a trade war w gina and they moved all our jobs from here to vietnam. in addition, my team was asked which if your jobs are legally incapable of being sent overseas. there were only a few sections within a couple of areas that cant legally move. Virtually 95% of this company is able to be off-shored.

Our team has had a bunch of them and they have delivered hardly anything of value. I am not sure what they do now - we don't engage them anyway knowing that it is a waste of time. They only get admin type of assignments. They've been on a payroll for over two years. What do they get paid for?

I can’t speak to all Risk and Compliance jobs, but I don’t think I would enjoy it at Wells Fargo. Maybe at another firm.

I wouldn’t like that I can only be as effective as management “allows” me to be. Depends on the quality and the thoroughness of the information/data I am provided. From what I’ve seen, they often don’t consult the Subject Matter Experts when developing the programs/ computer print-outs that are supposed to catch wrong-doing. Lots of data, but not necessarily the right data.

And then whether management backs me up in questioning/researching/investigating our wealthiest clients (with questionable activities from questionable countries and industries), and highest producing Financial Advisors and departments. I see lots of pushback, tiptoeing around, stalling, looking the other way, and sometimes even employees getting in trouble if they don’t quickly learn to play nice.

@sok I make way more than that and am about as far from compliance / risk as you can go. Why would I want my kids working in a financial institution not doing 'finance things'? Compliance and risk are as important as referees in a pro sport, but they don't actually play the game. I admire and respect the work done by those groups...do I want my kids in a bureaucratic role, though? No.

Lol you don’t want your kids having a 200k salary then? It’s a very lucrative career. Just sayin

Risk and Compliance is not one of Wells Fargo’s strongpoints according to all the lawsuits, regulatory issues, billions of $ in fines, and the asset cap. We can’t even manage it properly when it’s right under our nose. So....what does that tell you about the intelligence/competence of our leadership? Sounds like someone is trying to make a name for themselves in the short-term with reckless cost-cutting, rather than someone who is doing what’s right for the company and shareholders in the long-term.

Just wait till they see the incompetence over in wfip.. the jobs will be back within 24 months after Mandy and others realize the people over there need to follow checklists and black and white rules to do much and anything outside of that needs a us based assessment to be handled. I’ve seen this in other businesses and it’s never worked out. The people that can handle the us jobs are the people that immigrate to the us..
