Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

What's taking the spans and layers so long???

Supposed to be 7 spans and layers.

7

Yet multiple dead weight individuals posing as managers have fewer than 7 directs.

When is the company going to grow a pair and act on this policy? Or will it be so chock full of nepotistic exceptions that it'll never actually materialize for many?

I can think of several of these so-called managers that I'm very eager to see reassigned or let go. You can probably think of a few yourself.

Any inside scoop on timeline, or do we think the 'spans and layers' is smoke being blown up everyone's hiney while others that actually produce are shown the door?

There are still four more lay-off dates to come this year. Patience, grasshopper.

Each layer needs seven. There will be plenty of rolling heads.

PLEASE LOOK AT ICS AND THE NONSENSE GOING ON HERE WITH MANAGERS WITH LESS THAN 7 PEOPLE.. PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN HERE OVER 20 YEARS AND WHO CAN RETIRE BASED ON THERE AGE. IT DISGUSTING.

It's already happening. It started in August. Pay attention and keep up.

From what I understand as they do layoffs they are then doing the SOC work at least the first pass and then will continue to adjust. What will be interesting is when the economy re-opens and they start to lose the high performing, valuable people who will jump once there is an opportunity.

The real issue is they need to make high paying Ind Contributor roles so they do not force people to manage teams. I can tell you I would much prefer going to an IC then having to be managing and dealing with this bureaucratic whiplash.

The problem is you get to a place where there are no other options. So HR needs to step it up and realign jobs but they cannot even spell HR so they truly are a big clog. I totally agree we need less layers of managers but I am not sure these fools can figure it out

In my group, I noticed that people were moved around about 9 months ago to make sure people had 7 reports.

It is a complex problem . There are indeed people like me ( I am in tech controls) who refused the offer to have 2 additional people in India last year. I had 7 people then. The reason I refused an additional two was because we could the job efficiently with the people I had in the States. We are a high performing team and have helped close several issues in the past 12 months. Then, two of my US based (were) moved. Today I have 5 . I am sure we continue to deliver and produce the work of at least 7 people. I will be very upset if my counterpart team with 7 people who produce the work of 4 is left alone (due to the S and C initiative) and if we are cut. Management has to decide between the productive and thrifty teams versus the bloated ones.
