Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WF Auto must be immune from layoffs

There's not one posting on this board from anyone in Auto saying they or someone else got laid off.

I guess Auto must be immune.

The company must have BIG plans for Auto. Who knows, maybe they'll add even more positions than have already been added this year.

Auto had a massive layoff in 2018 when they consolidated all of their regional centers into 3 hubs. It was already gutted so not much more to do. I think they closed about 30 regional offices.

Yeah find it odd that they are winding down but so many postings out there are “auto” centered and I have been looking almost every day .. wonder what is next for them and how these postings support that strategy?

The layoffs to date have just been the tip of the iceberg. Not sure why any group that hasn't been touched yet assumes they won't be. The CFO has said it'll be a phased approach going into next year. I'm kind of assuming that groups with an open position at the top, like digital, won't be impacted this year. Their new leader won't even start until mid October. Still that's no guarantee.

It’s not immunity, it’s that no one cares about Auto

Auto went through a massive layoff and restructuring layoff three years ago. They closed all of the 50+ Business Centers and centralized all functions. They have continued to have smaller work force reductions during the past two years.

From June:

“ Wells Fargo is slowing down its auto loan business by ceasing to accept loan applications from most independent car dealerships — which typically sell used cars, as opposed to franchise dealerships that focus on new vehicles — a Wells Fargo spokeswoman confirmed to CNBC”

Sounds like a good case for heavy layoffs based on that
