That is the Oct date I keep hearing about in this site the most. How is anyone getting that date? What groups do we know will be impacted that day?

Has anyone heard how many jobs will be affected by year end? I’m an individual contributor and my manager and her manager know nothing yet.
HR said on an all hands Technology call that the cuts will start in October and continue in waves. Tech's part of the $10B cuts is $1B. But if the spend on new technology to add efficiency and eliminate human manual processes increases the expense, expect even more cuts to people, benefits and real estate.
so glad I and many others are on military time off for a few months, some until end of next year. double dog dare them to cut us while we are on military time off.
I am a manager involved in the process (sadly). The dates are 10/13, 10/27, 11/17 and 12/3. They do displacements on these standardized dates across the company. Who goes on what date depends on how fast the managers have constructed their "business cases" for reductions - new org, selection of people, displacements etc, and how they have stood up to the review and approval/signoff process that happens. There will be a breather after that for the dec holidays and then it will happen again starting in January. The dates for next year haven't been set yet but you can expect 1 or 2 per month indefinitely.
I believe some execs said October, and continuing for a year or more.
I think the date is speculation based on previous rounds of layoffs.
I think the pandemic and other factors, like the failed location strategy, may be causing some issues with timing?
Is HR fully staffed and ready to let people go in large amounts? Layoff take some planning.
But I have no direct knowledge of that, just putting things together from companywide emails and things said in AMAs.
I'd give up the date guessing game as far as anyone individual's job goes, we just haven't gotten any good updates on what's being planned, spans, etc.
I think you either want to stay and hope you get a package or don't get layed off, or look for work elsewhere while you still have a job.
Personally I say you wait and hope for a package and make Wells pay you and cause Wells some pain, but everyone is in a different place in life.
At this point dates don’t really matter because it is pretty clear it is going down in October and over the next 30 days we are going to find out
Just happened to me yesterday. Told I can have another salaried position at another location in a role I’ve never done. Pleasant conversation with my boss except for the , “you were not chosen” part. Real gut kick to be part of a group of hard working individuals only to be seen as a weaker link there. I’ve been in retail long enough to know I’m not special and it’s a business that’ll survive when I’m gone but it still makes you feel small and excluded . Guess I’m bittersweet but employed though in a location I’ve never worked or with people I don’t know and a role Ive never done. Family , insurance and a paycheck for them/us is really what’s important. The changes are being executed now. You can say , “No”, and your in a lottery for the sc-aps left over (overnights, available positions left over) by the end of the Oct IF there are any OR you become the extra guy/gal and are designated for the “fill in” assts at any store directed -you can imagine how fun that would be working at the store with no coverage or hard work needs? Likely not the 7-4 m-f and ends in a year and again , odd man out with no career path. Trying to keep the vitriol down as I type. Ive had a day to process this and am resigned to my fate. I got into this role because I liked working with people and seeing things we create sell and excite but now I just want to survive this latest Hunger Games and hope the “the odds will be in my favor”
