Job grades / titles

Can someone share the job grade / title structure at WF? I believe the direct reports are all senior EVPs, but how do things go below that? Are there multiple job grades with the same title? Ie four levels of VPs or SVPs? Any info appreciated.

The officer titles mean nothing- an svp can be an individual contributor here- doesn’t amount to their pay.

Job titles are functional and have ranges based on that job title/level; the officer titles are an add to this, but again, they do not add anything in terms of compensation.

@rcx you crack me up, especially the bit about folks with C in their title. :-)

FWIW, a decade or more ago it actually took some training and a manager to back you for an employee to move up to "Corporate Officer" status. I never undertook this but I knew some who did. With our last reorg in Tech this summer everyone at my level (bottom) was gifted the AVP title while simultaneously cutting our bonus target. No training, no discussion, just now you're an AVP making less bonus target. Hooray. I felt bad for those who actually cared about this sort of thing and worked for it.

Yep, for some reason the bank requires tons of us to have an AVP title, even if we have no direct reports or make any real management decisions.

If you've never worked outside of banking, the rest of the world is not like this.

It's pretty harmless, if you understand the title means almost nothing in most cases.

Most of us AVP's don't even bother putting it in our email sig.

I may post it to linkedin just to freak out some buddies I used to work with who know I'm not a VP kind of guy.

Last bit of wisdom, HR may have a title for you that has nothing to do with what you actually do for a living, that's common across most corporations.

They categorize us for tracking purposes, people who type in front of a screen all day, people who do actual work, people with C in their title who make bad decisions...

All I know is that VP is a mostly pointless title. If everyone is a VP, no one is.
