Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Would you feel better if...

  • the management was more transparent about layoffs (size, dates, etc.)
  • the management carried some brunt (pay cuts, bonus cuts, etc.)
  • the management executed layoffs more humanely (gradual phase out, opportunities, more generous packages, invites to return once the busines picks up, etc)

I am not sure if am missing something... Please add whatever you'd like to add...

I was affected, but one thing I learned doing CP&D with my manager and peers before I was let go is that no one with a base salary above $150k will be getting a merit increase this year.

Actually, they cut the package quite a bit from 2018's layoffs. If you worked 20yrs, you had 12 months paid...25+ received additional months up to 16 months. Now you worked here 40 years, you're capped at 12 months and for my 20yrs, it's 40 weeks which is 6 paychecks less then if I was laid off in 2018. They probably did it because they knew there would be massive cuts.

Sure it would be better but not possible without sever consequences.

Plans need to me made, automation needs to happen, functions need to be sunset, etc.

The only way to make this better would be to rip off the bandaid all at once and then tell the survivors it was over.

I know, HR Bla Bla Bla. It would never happen. But that’s the answer to the question asked.

Compliance is not getting laid off and the span and layers are not going away. The old timers need to go. They created this mess.

More generous packages? Are you kidding?

Last time I was laid off I got 2 weeks severance and was gone that day.

8 week minimum is very generous.
