I've heard layoffs have started already. Can anybody confirm?

Our team manager was cut today. Our managers manager called in another manager who was on vacation and had him on the call with us to let us know and inform us that he was our new manager. They both said that we would be seeing a lot of emails and notifications of different people being let go today. I'm in CMT. I'm not sorry he left and it sounds like he was cut off from all system access by the end of today, received a 60 notice and then received a nice package. Hopefully, our new manager will be a better leader.
I received a goodbye email from an associate manager in WIM technology today. He wasn't in a core location, so that plus spans and layers stuff probably did him in.
Yeah they are definitely pushing scripting and automation more than they did some months ago but I have not heard of any of our QA being let go. I have 3 QA on my scrum team that I talk to every day. They are pushing both scripting and automation onto everyone on my scrum team, not just QA. Devs have downtime? Write scripts, do automation. Process analysts have downtime? You get the picture.
Hey @lah, sorry to hear about QA, but I'm in IT and not in QA and have heard nothing today.
It's a big bank, so we're still going to ask "which LOB" if it's okay with you.

That makes sense as a part of the BS Agile strategy. Coding skills do not make sense for those in support and maintenance positions. Sure we can and do write our own scripts, but that's all that should apply to those that are technical non-development roles.
To @fmj+17Y6aYfd and all the other mo–ns claiming fake news and 11/17 canceled: STFU!!! It's real and it's happening. My Tech QA manager got laid off. All Tech QA across all Technology/LOBs are impacted. Corporate is getting rid of Tech QA Managers (currently ongoing) as part of the Spans and Layers BS. No performance based at all. The remaining QA peasants (non-management) will find out their fate over the next 2 weeks. That will be dependent on skills set. Manual QA is being eliminated enterprise wide. Gotta have Automation QA skills (coding/scripting) or you're out. Folks, this is across the board. Stop asking which LOB or whatever.
