Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Mindlessly forcing retail employees to cover other branches

Co-worker got covid, branch was closed for one day and now they’re forcing almost everyone out to help other branches while they clean it. This has happened on multiple occasions and I don’t understand why wf continues to put people at risk like this

I've had 6 coworkers test positive. They close the branch to clean and then send us right back. They claim to be going by CDC guidelines but those have changed while WF policy has not. I spoke to a manager who said that if it spreads within the workplace (like from worker to worker) then the manager gets in trouble for not enforcing guidelines, even though it's proven that it spreads easiest within offices and it's impossible to socially distance within most branches. We are sacrificial lambs that don't even get hazard pay

I think what the OP is getting at is this.. if you were working in a branch with someone who has COVID, it’s very possible you would have it too. Instead of paying them to quarantine, they are sending them to other branches where more exposure can occur. I’d be upset if I worked in the branch they sent these folks to.

It s—s to have to be customer facing and run the risk of contracting COVID19. The bank seems to be taking measures to create a safe and socially distant work environment. At the same time, we are all adults and every team member should be responsible to keep themselves safe.

On the flip side, we are a for profit business and there are expectations for all of us. If you do not like that and you feel you are in harms way working in a branch, find another job that allows you to stay home.

You are not obligated to work in a branch. It's easy for all of us to pick on Wells Fargo now or on Charlie for all changes being made given our individual misfortunes. You have a lot more power than you think and it is your right to seek employment elsewhere if you do not like it.

I suspect most of the self-righteous comments here are from trolls. Hopefully Wells Fargo isn’t hiring people who lack the maturity and emotional intelligence to put themselves in the place of those with less privilege than themselves.

thank you for what you do. I have clients that appreciate being able to access a branch for needed services.

I agree with the OP. Limit the stores with inside access. I can’t think of too much banking that can’t be done through drive up, if customers don’t have access to online. There are probably other options as well, I could probably come up with some ideas there.

I feel very fortunate to be able to WFH, and have empathy for those who don’t have jobs that allow for that. Bankers, grocery store workers, waiters etc didn’t knowingly sign up to put their lives at risk when they took these jobs.

Instead i suppose they could place you on unpaid leave while the location is being cleaned. But continue with the complaining.

Unfortunately customer facing employees will be at risk just like nurses and other front line workers are. Of course they should get hazard pay but no one wants to hear THAT.

You want to take about heroes, how about people that go to work every day to face that?

I guess the other option is to tell all customers to use online or ATMs.

Of course, they would have to lay off most of the line folks.
