Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Cutting hours?

What day is it happening this week? When should we expect to see the “Mandatory HR update” emails in the morning at the stores, and then the glum voice of the overpaid GVP intoning that “Due to sales not meeting our plan...”

Why are RMs still safe? With limited traveling to stores can’t their directives be communicated in an email directly from the ivory tower? They’re hurting the stores but there’s a couple layers in between home office and stores that can be cut...looking at you RM and GVP.

We just lost half our staff yesterday due to budget cuts. Then I went home and saw that we are hiring. This is ridiculous.

So, wait...your store was cut to 30 hrs & no part time? So, are you SM or ASM?

Word is that ASM’s will be cut to less than 40 hrs today. Care to confirm?

We are taking the hit for the smaller stores that are under performing due to Covid closures.

Yes, yes you are. You expected something else from a company that values

each and every associate?

Our store was cut to 30 hours for Full Time staff, no part time. We were told that our store is doing fairly well considering the situation going on in the country. I have always scheduled our payroll 10-15 hours under budget with managers opening and closing and PT-Timers scheduled during the lunch hour. We are taking the hit for the smaller stores that are under performing due to Covid closures.

To the last poster: do you mean, running wantlists to wholesalers that have barely any stock themselves?

Conspiracy is the right word. Stores are being intentionally sabotaged in their Spring sourcing and most haven't caught on yet.

No benefits = part time

The benefits cutoff is 30 hours. So no more benefits for full time?

The real bummer is the conspiracy that February is going to be the same thing, and Follett moves towards solely employing this temp staffing agency to provide staff only when absolutely necessary in order to take advantage of small business protection in the short term, and obviously 'shareholder value' in the long. Even if the bill is larger for the staffing agency. This is the same sort of "I will force this square peg in a round hole by god!" mentality that destroyed wholesale when they attempted to manage QTC by algorithm and failed for two years running at what was apocalyptically bad decision making until the head of wholesale was forced out (with severance) and the division destroyed. The commentary at the time was 'we have decided to no longer pursue this course of action.'

Names have been changed to protect the incompetent. I love it! Great post.

This happened Monday, November 9th at 8:52 a.m CST. Jhengo fett presiding. As of November 8th the company is said to have overspent by 1.5 million. All temp roles are done. Some 800 stores must reduce their PT hours to zero, 400 and a bit stores have overspent vs. their sales. Full time hourly must be reduced to no more than 29 hours a week.

It is '100% our responsibility as the operations team' according to the Hamster. It's important to note from the Hat Trick that 'You have done this before with actions taken in May and June' though the Hatster left out the part about the CARES act protecting these employees with financial assistance. The Hoffenburger meanwhile sent out notice regarding the overspend on Sunday with the following -very- concerned tone 'Good Day: Please see summary below...thx Hoffenjager'

If it sounds like I am in some way mocking the store managers, I am not. I take no glee in this news, though many of the stores in the 'green' are simply not open. Hours of store operations should be considered adjustable, and a strategy to inform contacts devised. Regionals have already had discussions with their superiors if locations should even being in 'open status' at this point. I cannot shed light on that conversation yet. Names of people have been creatively changed because I don't do call outs.

“Due to sales not meeting our plan...”

Come on GVP, how about sharing our plan.

Then it could become everyone's plan.
