Per people who have actually been layed off, you get two weeks for every year, that starts after the 60 days on/off, with a maximum of one year pay.
There are requirements and you need to read your papwork carefully, but the idea is to send you on your way as happy as possible.

And? It’s not like a guaranteed benefit, it’s not something regulated. Severance is a nice thing some companies do for displaced workers. My wife got canned in March and got nothing from the company she worked for.
I would think if they change it in Jan. to just 1 week they could have a real problem as they have announced big layoffs. Seems people could argue that they were not laid off until after the rules changed.

Generally, under 5 years will get you 8 weeks after the initial 60 day notice. For every year of service, increase the 8 weeks by another two weeks until you reach the max; which is 52 weeks
