Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

“We’ll let you know more when there is info to share”

Is our senior leadership THAT ridiculously tone deaf that they continue to give this exact....same....-answer every single time the question on layoffs arises?

It’s like, dudes....you’ve know about this and have been planning for this for a year or more, and you’ve been SUPER deep in the weeds on planning hit it for at least the last 7-8 months. Translation: There’s ZERO chance that these filthy patronizing paper mache heathen a** goblins don’t already know the answers. They do.

So they intentionally answer the question every single time with some variation of “Hey great question! We’re working on it. We’ll let you know. Stay strong!”

Meanwhile, layoffs are and have been happening.

What a complete rancid cesspool of an organization we’ve got here. Thanks Chainsaw. We appreciate it. Please—-continue sitting there in your $178 cardigan sweater with your plastic smile, beady little CHASE fanboy eyes and 10th grade speaking skills and stammer through the same NON answers again and again. I love your “town halls” almost as much as I enjoy having my *** probed by an ungreased rhino horn.

Ridiculous. Just try answering the next question with “guys, we appreciate the question but we’re electing to not provide specific details for X reason”.

Just try being honest one time with your people.

Nobody expects names and dates to be posted on Teamworks, but as a manager I do expect HR to stick to a pre-established timeline. We’ve done spreadsheets and lists and evaluations and more evaluations, all due RIGHT NOW. Then nothing. No follow up, no explanation, just a holding pattern. They’re doing displacements like they do everything else. It’s an inefficient, uncoordinated, confusing, hot mess without leadership or accountability.

How do you know he’s not being transparent and submitting plans to them? Just because it isn’t all over the news and being told to the employees (which would go directly to the news sites), doesn’t mean that there is no progress or plans being submitted.

I am starting to wonder how this CEO can get away in front of the regulators, mainly the OCC and FRB, with such lack of transparency about his plans . The regulatory agencies ought be asking “what’s the plan to get the asset cap lifted?” and “give me timelines and specifics about the efficiency plans”. There is a statutory obligation to ask question where there is an obvious impact to the safe and soundness of the bank. The regulators are sleeping at the job or there is no plan at all.

@mds, you're right. What do you expect them to say? "OK, the following people and departments will be cut on this day and date ".
It doesn't work like that here nor any other company. You only know it's coming and that's it.
I worked at a company ten years and every year or so, someone was getting laid off. I survived every year except my last one. I didn't see it coming.
They never tell you.

You actually expected candor in the meeting TH?! Baaahhhaaaabaaa haa haaa haa.

Dude, they don't care. You are on a need to know basis and you don't need to know. Now, get back to work. Thats the answer.

Not a specific reply around exactly who and when.....but certainly more than the standard “we’re still working on it, we’ll let you know” we get every single time the question is raised.

So no, we don’t need to hear “Hi Bob in accounting, your day is Dec 17th!”

But would it be out of the realm of possibility to hear something like “to date, we have executed 42% of our overall plan. LOB’s X, Y, and Z have been hit the hardest, and unfortunately we’re looking at LOB’s X and Y between now and January. One thing we are trying to do with affected employees is provide them with X resources as well as a 60 day period to blah blah blah”.

I mean, maybe I’m naive. Maybe my example there is even too much information than is normally given. But, for the love of sweet town hall-attending baby Jesus......can we all at least agree that an answer if “we’re still figuring it out, guys, we have no idea but we’ll let you know when we do” is at the same time obviously false, lazy, patronizing, and insulting?

@mds+17Gqkk0d

Finally someone around here with a clue on how downsizing works.

I’m thankful we know approximately how many and how long it will take.

Well really, what could you EXPECT them to say? "Hey, Bob? In accounting? Yeah, we're going to be laying you off the first week of January. Hang tight, buddy!"

They have to be vague for their own protection as well as for those impacted. I lead a team of ten. If I had layoffs, do you really think it would be wise to hold a team meeting and announce to the team, "Hey guys. Regina, Anton - you guys are being let go. Would you please drop off, so I can cover go-forward plans with the rest of the team?"

I mean, I get the complaint, but think about what you're asking for. It's not logical, sensible, or sensitive to the impacted individuals.

Boycott CEO and executive town halls. When 200 people show up vs 50000 that will send a message.

Just keep working until we tell you stop is, and always will be, the only answer we will ever get.

The person who asks the question is, and always will be, the problem.

That’s just life in corporate America.

Yep embrace candor by saying we don’t want to tell you anything.
