I know a lot of you are saying you learned nothing new in the Town Hall, but did you honestly expect anything different? I went into it knowing it would be latitudes and an hour I would never get back. That seems to be the course with these new “leaders.” I swear you could play buzzword bingo and if you played a drinking game by taking a shot every time you heard um or uh, you would have been blitzed five minutes in.

This won't be a popular POV but... Town Halls have never been a place for candor and transparency. Leaders won't share anything they don't want Wall Street to know about. And yes, they cherry picked questions they wanted to answer – a lot of D&I because Charlies wants to undo negative perceptions about him on that subject. What executives in recent memory haven't cherry picked, though? Stumpf? Sloane?
We work for a company with more than 250k people, so anyone hoping for empathy for them as an individual will probably be disappointed. If that's an environment an employee wants, a top 4 bank is probably not for them.
I saw a post on this site questioning why leadership won't share which teams will lose how many people, and when. Even if leadership could share that, and did on a town hall knowing it'd be on the Charlotte Observer website within the hour, the next question would be "Is it me? Am I getting laid off?" It's a no-win for them.
I also hate how long this is taking, but everyone here has a choice to stay and see what happens, or leave. Shouting at the rain over stuff that's standard operating procedure in corporate America is a waste of energy. Resistance is futile.
And yes, Charlie said "um" too much yesterday. He should work on that. He was speaking to 50k people, most of whom really don't like him much. Besides I doubt the BOD hired him for his charisma or presentation skills.
