Don’t know why I expected more from him? Maybe because a news report suggested this Townhall was to rally the troops after the layoffs took place on Tuesday. I’m not feeling so rallied.
Someone posted the question yesterday: Should the Board be looking for a new CEO? I didn’t answer it at the time. But now my answer is a resounding YES. Or maybe the better answer is I HOPE they will replace him.
I’m not even referring to the fact that he is laying off employees. I don’t like it, but the next guy they replace him with would probably do the same thing.
After hearing Charlie today, I am convinced he’s a poser, a bad counterfeit version of Jamie Dimon. Our Board literally paid more for the counterfeit version than the real thing. And I feel pretty sure he’s in over his head. That is why he is so vague and non-communicative. And cold.
Most importantly, I agree that he can not turn this company around if he does not have the respect and the support of his employees. I do not like or respect anything about him. I think a lot of small voices can have a bigger effect then his arrogant self will give any credit to.
I had a thought the other day that the news that was “leaked” early about Wells selling WFAM and then then Corporate Trust: those were no “leaks”. Charlie had to get the news out to make it look like he’s doing something, anything. Just my opinion, but he definitely has to be feeling the pressure from all angles. One year in, and paid $36,000,000, and pretty much nothing to show for it? As well as the stock being down 60% and WFC is the only large bank that cut their dividend.
I’m a pretty hard worker. I’m self- motivated, but give me a little appreciation and I’ll work day and night to make you look good. On the other hand, if you want to keep reminding me that I’m dispensable, I will not give you an extra moment of my energy. And I don’t think I’m alone in that feeling.
You can either have a team of 265,000 employees helping you be successful, or you can have a team of 265,000 slowing the pace. Your Townhall meeting just moved me to the other side.
