What a shart show! :(

How anyone is still loyal or motivated is beyond me.

Face value is meaningless. $20.93 is REAL value and it’s going down rapidly, how did you get a job in Financial Services... just asking. You need to find a mentor who has studied business in a decent university or college.

It’s kind of fun to go back a year and read all the recommendations to buy or not to buy WFC stock at various prices and then all the way down. I found one from The Street on Dec 19, 2019 saying it was inching closer to a classic buy signal at 54.50. Ha! And then one from March 08, 2020 saying we shouldn’t buy at $34.20 due to too much uncertainty around the asset cap. Smart guy!

A good point being that just because a stock is way down doesn’t mean it’s going to go back up. And also just because a stock is way down doesn’t mean it won’t go lower.

I don’t know if it’s a good buy here or not. I could argue strong pros and strong cons. But for me, personally, I don’t love what I’m seeing. I lived through Wachovia falling apart seemingly overnight.
I know a lot of employees and executives, who I would have hoped were a lot smarter than me, who lost a lot of money because they had some kind of weird false hope or faith in the company. Outsiders could see it, but many on the inside just couldn’t see the forest for the trees.

Post ID: @hhf+17FdRUzf “So why is WFC stock down...”

I’m not an analyst, but Charlie gives very vague answers around the topics of cost-cutting plans and progress on the asset cap. The market typically sells on uncertainty.

There’s a good article out there about whether WFC stock is a value-play or a value-trap at these price levels. Some are saying it is a good long-term investment while others say the risk of trying to operate under the asset cap is too great, and there are better companies to invest your money in.

Piggy-backing on to the reply directly below from Post ID: @xpp+17FdRUzf:

If someone is going to challenge a post, they should have some basic knowledge around the topic on which they choose to post an alternative thought.

I would never attempt to challenge a licensed electrician on the topic of electrical wiring, because I am smart enough to comprehend I know nothing about electrical wiring.

I’m responding to the fact that Post ID: @dyp+17FdRUzf said WFC Stock is a nice little “fixed-income” investment. Fixed Income does not refer to stocks, typically bonds, Treasuries, CDs etc. Fixed income refers to a type of investment security that pays investors fixed income or dividend payments until a Maturity Date.

So why is WF down when the market as a whole and other big banks are up today?

I'm not sure what you're responding to but the stock is trading at around 0.7 tangible book, the asset cap will eventually be lifted and presumably, they'll start paying dividends again. It's not for me but I could see the logic of taking a long position.

The WFC believers prove my point EVERY time.

  1. No factual substance to prove their claims.
  2. Lack of any real pertinent knowledge of the topic at hand.
  3. They something that digs WFC in to a bigger hole “Well..yes we did get caught committing serious fraud throughout the past10 years, but at least they didn’t catch everything. And it’s actually ok because everybody’s doing it!”
  4. They ignore reality, and just try to shame you

Interesting - face value is around $45 so it looks like a buy opportunity to me. In three or four years, it will be a nice little fixed income investment.
