The site is running very slow again today. I’ll be typing a post and the page will refresh itself and it disappears before I finish and submit. Or the page locks up. It seems like I’m getting more and more ads that cause the page to jump. I’m not having the same problems anywhere else. Thoughts?

To OP: try switching to Safari. Google apps are made to cater to ads (that's how they make money) while apple is more restrictive. Safari on iOS renders things better too and is faster.
Keep in mind, apple does not allow other webkits/rendering engines on ios so both mozilla and google browsers are running a Safari kit - your chrome on ios is a safari with a skin and some logic on top of it. it just complicates things and messes up with how pages are rendered.
my strong suggestion is that you switch to safari and i can bet that layoffs dot com is not even testing on chrome on ios as it's probably under 1% of all users. i'd bet that they test chrome on windows, safari on macos, chrome on android and safari on ios. most of the industry sticks with this breakdown as once you add more combinations your testing costs go thru the roof.

They added video ads on Wells Fargo only, probably just testing

I had trouble the other day. I could get to the site, but all links were bad. That problem went away.
Like others, I've noticed that there's now a ton of ads. It's so bad that I may stop using the site.
I have so many pop up adds here, I need to opt out.
I am seeing a lot more ads also - and some are covering part of the posts. I've also noticed it's running a bit slower (or bursty).
OP here. I’m on an 18 month old IPad using the Google Chrome app and Spectrum WiFi. Sometimes I’ll have to turn it off and back on, and it improves temporarily. Has been especially bad the last 2 days. I noticed today that I’m getting “featured videos” that include ads now. I can’t say for sure but that seems new, or maybe I’m just now noticing it.
I thought if I got a flood of responses, I would know it’s not just me.

What kind of browser you are using.
Yes, they are using heavy ads but I am not getting page refreshes and aside from first 10 seconds to load the page all other works good.
It's slow but works fine for me
