Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I am quitting on Friday

I've had it. I'll be quitting on Friday and this is primarily because I have a manager who does not care and has no moral compass. Granted, I've spent here only three years it was enough to see that the company has problems and will have to struggle to survive. Honestly, prior to joining Wells I've hard som many good things about it but I guess I was not lucky to work under good managers. I've found a job at a small credit union here in So. Cal. - good luck all and I wish you all the best.

My manager .. God know what he does .. He says he is busy all days .. Every email that comes his way with a question from stakeholder is forwarded to us to type up on what we want to respond .. Have zero computer technical skill and ask us to prepare all the deck and end of days takes it over and present .. we get zero credit for preparing the deck . Zero clue about the latest method in tech but just pretends and beats the drums that we want to jump on the latest and greatest .. I have been here for 2.2 years just waiting for bonus and i am calling it a day .. Always blames employees and never ever take responsibilities for his/her fault .. Forget about every damn thing we say .. Oh jesus ..

I wish there was a way - Employee can rate their direct manager ..

Glad you found a new job at a Credit Union. Best of luck to you on your future. I’m sure you held out as long as you could. You were smart to have another job lined up before quitting.

I'm new to the company and honestly, in my short experience, it is a complete disaster. In many cases, people have no idea what they are suppose to do, there are no clear lines of responsibility and endless meetings that lead to nowhere, with no work being generated. Many people literally have no idea how to plan, start and execute work.

A big part of the problem for years has been how hard it is to fire someone for poor performance. So people get told to post, and they do well in an interview - the old manager is happy to get rid of them, so sing their praises. I am hearing that problem will be fixed in 2021 and they will find a way to displace or fire the true poor performers. I have three on my team. Useless, but impossible to get rid of. Sure, if someone makes a massive HR blunder, they can be walked out, but just being lousy at the job? They ride the merry-go-job forever. That's what has to end, and it will help with morale, too. 2021.

Whatever you do, just don't sleep with your boss.

Was thinking about leaving too, but going to stick with it to see if there's a severance.

Team morale is in the gutter. Half my team doesn't even do their job, if they even report in for work at all. Up to our ears in work, half the team cant be f—ed to do anything. Complaining to management about it has had the opposite effect: they create excuses for colleagues poor performance and punish those who are working to the bone to keep the team afloat. Basically learned that if you report a problem in my team, then YOU are the problem.

There are too many asshats in senior positions. They are not leaders, they are simply a– kissers who repackage other people’s work and take credit as their own. I personally would like to see these managers gone to keep a few more hard working individual contributors.

My manager is condescending, demeaning, too busy, and down right nasty Good for you though, morale is at an all time zero here, good luck, happy you escaped unscathed.

Hold out and see if you're downsized so you can at least get unemployment.

My manager has no idea how to manage people. He is awful to work for.

Suggest you slow down, regroup and think it through first. Anyone can quit anytime. I suggest you stay until you have a job offer in hand then leave. Should you Get “severed” you’ll get a package and Cobra.
But to summarily say “I quit” and walk out is foolhardy unless you won the lottery.
Be smart and quit on when you can walk into another position and there is NO disruption of your cash flow!

personally my mgr is very very nice...but I too am looking after 3 years. the work isnt challenging, just headaches and mindless tasks...the mgr doesnt do any thing to make things better. my conclusion is this is the understood culture modus of operandi

In my case things are a bit different. My manager is the only reason why I am sticking with the firm.
