The news stories are confusing - is the big layoff happening today/Tuesday and today only (for the most part) or is it multiple days of massive layoffs and today just happens to be the start of it.

Notifications of layoffs usually come in waves. They don’t layoff people altogether in one go. It maytake a few months to reach their projected numbers. I’ve been through one 8 years ago and it is a punch in the gut. Times were quite different then, it is not just a good time to get laid off these days. Good luck everyone.
News media was just speculating on the depth of cuts, largely based on this site which frankly shocked me. One even called this "the news site thelayoff.com". The NEWS site? So much for gum shoe investigative reporting.
It’s just starting... the layoffs will be layered. So don’t take a deep breath
