Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WFC to be removed from s&p500?

Listening to a podcast today they mentioned banks, and in particular Wells Fargo.

Traditional banking has so many headwinds and with the massive shift of valuation, scandals, management mistakes and ever declining asset values the conversation shifted to "does scandal belong as part of an american index?"

Even with wells trying to fix the probelms of the past, thr rot runs deep. Threats of selling major parts of thr company off, has brought forward the question does Wells belong on this index at all?

I’m betting that Wells Fargo wishes those who attempt to defend them would just stop talking. Inevitably you make the company look worse, rather than better. It’s pretty entertaining.

One of these days, I’m going to put together a post on all the many things employees(?) say in defense of Wells Fargo. If we keep hiring people like this, regulators won’t lift the asset cap until 2025.

The OCC already admitted other big banks were guilty as well but chose not to name them. Wells Fargo basically is the fall guy for the other big banks. If it gets removed, other big banks need to be removed.

You can’t rationalize bad behavior by saying “everyone else is doing it”. Would you stand up for the thief who steals your wallet and then shoots you in the middle of the street because “if it wasn’t him, it would have been someone else.” I don’t think so.

That mindset is the problem, not the solution.
