Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

To the negative posts still collecting a paycheck

From Wells Fargo, why are you still here and why are you hoping the bank fails if you're still here collecting a paycheck and benefits?
Honest question because I honestly don't understand.

OP

I have an honest question for you. I honestly want to know your answer.

Why do you want to control the narrative? Why don’t you just be cool and read the posts you enjoy, and ignore the posts you don’t? I think you and everyone else would be much happier.

Why should they change? The employees I have encountered always took their position for granted. The majority of them barely worked and thought they were the gift to the banking world. You talk the real banking language like DDA and they look at you like you are crazy. They have soaked up large salaries, 401 contributions and excellent benefits for years. Really, I was shocked when a Loan Service Specialist earned a triple digit salary because she worked there for 18 years. She knew nothing about perfecting collateral, ticker systems, loan compliance, or collections.

@yxh, not wrong. Again, most times, they don't give you a date. You just know it's coming in a month or a week but based on my experiences at other companies, we were never told and were never told who it would be.
So much for grass being greener elsewhere. It's Corporate America, baby. They don't owe you sh–.

I’ve been laid off before and “there’s going to be a whole lot of layoffs coming up as soon as I spend a year thinking about it” is really unprecedented in my experience.

Considering that other areas of my larger department were told what’s up and my leader keeps dodging us I would say you are wrong. People also get 60 day notices.

Simply put... negative employees are ok with sabatoge. Management says they will displace inefficiency to fix the bank, then be quick to issue the packages and displace. Quit hoping employees move on their own accord to cut the overblown costs to run this good ol boy bank by creating anxiety and fear leaking plans to the media and then acting shocked when its not working. A poor efficiency ratio isn't created in one year, its a series of failures led by failed leadership. Reports of consistent caps of no more than 2% increases per year for 20+ years, rewards of pins, stuffed toy horses...... the negative employees have learned it doesn't matter how well or good they perform because they aren't compensated for doing their best. If an achiever is getting the same as a poor performer, they learn to keep their head down and pump out just enough to be like the others to coast. If those responsible with management aren't willing to deal directly with their ineffective employees through PIPs and write ups, you have the current environment. Having 4 CEOs in 4 years, an ineffective board with B.D. admiting her failure and agreeing with the congressional finance committee someone in WF should go to jail for the fake account scandals...... Negative employees learned they can outlast whatever the current knucklehead in charge wants to implement because the company no longer has a unified vision or direction. This is all becoming white noise....

When big corporations or even midsize corporations layoff, they never give dates or tell you who it will be.
You know it's coming but you never know when.
Expecting Wells Fargo to give you an exact date is silly. Based on my experiences with other companies and people who have been laid off before, you just know it's coming but you don't know when. You sit down, turn your computer on and never know if that will be your last day.

Hey smarty pants, it’s “kool-aid” not koolaid. Thanks for your lesson in expectations of Corporate America, and my lesson is brought to you by my five year old 👊🏼 🥤

I have been laid off before and the company never tells you when it will happen.
You obviously stayed here too long because you expect more from Corporate America.
And for your information, the correct terminology is laid off, not fired. What kind of koolaid have you been drinking?

There are at least two useful things:

  1. The news articles posted. I don’t always follow news and I appreciate that somebody does and reposts.
  2. The people weighing in on the layoff days. You notice the bank doesn’t announce those, just quietly snips around the edges and people keep waiting for the Big News that the other shoe will drop. At least here we have some inkling of who’s gettinglet go.
  3. Am I the only one who finds it telling that it’s not just tellers or customer service reps complaining? I see (allegedly) HR, accountants, auditors, project managers, middle managers, engineers, security people, pretty much every job in the bank outside the extreme upper level management. The traffic this page gets is something else.

Hahaha - what information have we gotten from the company???? I mean real information? So we read differing information on here but it’s something. Each day people come to work thinking today could be the day. Whoever you are defending WF and how leadership has handled this - you are ridiculous. Keep drinking that kool aid and when you get fired, keep your tears to yourself then and eat your own words to go somewhere else bc no one should care according to you. What a D Bag you are.

@mse+17Cba15u

What actual news do you get on this site? If folks get laid off and feel like volunteering that information, fair enough. Other than that it's all just guesswork, conjecture and innuendo. We've been told there will be layoffs, we've cut consultants by 30% to get some cost out and all sorts of projects have been cancelled. People who complain about management specifically, the CEO, should go off to CEO school and when they come back and manage to get the top job, do things differently so all the employees are happy little sausages. The shareholders who own the company may not be thrilled but according to a lot of commentators, that is irrelevant.

There is some entertainment benefit to be had from reading the comments but that's about all it is.

Chainsaw, shouldn’t you be preparing for you bogus-filled town hall instead of being the OP? If it’s not Chuck it’s definitely someone so far up his arse that they support his poor decisions.

People LOVED working here. Since Charlie and other leaders arrived, the company has changed. We are no longer considered a “team”. It seems sterile; employees. There is all this talk about candor and honesty yet managers are being forced into downgrading review ratings (to make people look like they performing as well - that’s a fact!!) and leadership is not honest or acting on candor. The company is not the same. We will be dismantled, sold off, then Chuckie will leave the shell of what’s left. It will be an atmosphere of stress where no one feels secure in their role, just as it is now. Shed your tears for the WF you knew bc she’s gone.

Yes, people should be thankful. But, and it’s a big BUT: I think people are upset when they’ve dedicated so much to a company and find out more information through the news than the company. The way the layoffs and news of this has been handled is poor. You really can’t argue that. The result of what leadership is and isn’t doing has changed the morale to one of anxiousness and frustration. It starts from the top down! When leaders give the impression that they don’t care, it’s like a cancer that spreads. Leadership is to blame.

@yvy, you have summed it up perfectly.
Every day I am reading such negative comments and I wonder why don't they leave? Some of them have been here for years and they're still putting their bread and butter down and wanting to see the bank fail.

We are still here and complain 24/7 because we can’t find a better job. Heck some of us can’t even get jobs that are 5 levels below what we have now.

@OP+17Cba15u , they are incapable of critical thought. They simply want to troll or find those to commiserate with. They are not accustom to change, whole heartedly believe the grass is greener on the other side and completely feel “owed” some severance for “putting up with this place” for as long as they did. Instead of realizing they do not enjoy their workplace, finding one they believe is better and leaving to have a happier life they would rather ride out what they have because of their own insecurities but be miserable and spread said misery as much as possible. Just to make themselves feel sick the whole time.

I’ve held positions I have hated. But you must self-identify as being unhappy then take actions to change the situation. These miserable people have no such personal responsibility and feel it is everyone else’s fault and responsibility to make them feel great.
