Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are Wells Fargo severance packages negotiable?

I’ve seen conflicting information. Has anyone had any luck negotiating terms?

I just received my package Not sure if on purpose or by accident. It is a lump sum payout equal to 1 year salary and 3 months of benefits. It will be paid via direct deposit during the first payroll run in November. I'm not bothering to negotiate.

The severance package is not guaranteed. The employee has no rights to demand the severance payout. It is a miracle it hasn’t been modified during these times.

It was a good severance package, so no complaints here. You also couldn’t negotiate. You had a fixed amount of time to accept or decline and that was it

Agree, if someone is laid off as a one-off it might be easier to negotiate, and have leverage because of the optics of possibly being singled out for age etc. But when there are broad layoffs, it's probably difficult to make that claim. Can you imagine if word got out that one person of the more than 1k laid off this year successfully negotiated for a bigger package? HR would be inundated with requests.

Besides, job hunting is emotionally draining and time consuming, and my energy is finite. Need to direct it where I'll get the most benefit. So, not fighting "the man".

What are you expecting to negotiate?

Frankly, Its some of the best severance I have ever seen.

60 days notice + 8 weeks for anyone less than 5 years.
60 days + 2 weeks a year 5+ years . Capped at 52.

It's possible to attempt if you are being pushed out. But with rightsizing efforts it's pretty much set in stone.

To be able to negotiate successfully you have to have leverage...

So unfortunately once they tell someone “your services are no longer required”, they have all the leverage and the employee has none.

So you can try, but the HR answer to every question will be a NO

They are - it's called take it or leave it.

no they are not. anyone who posts they are do not work here. You can literally look up the info in the benefits book (called salary continuation plan).
