In years past, I would have logged on over the weekend to complete it. In these times, I’m saying screw it. I’ll make something up and reschedule the meeting Monday. That’s what it’s like working for the wheel less stagecoach these days

It is NOT OK to have zero work/life balance.
Honestly it’s like this in all of banking, and has been for the last two decades. If his is new to you count yourself as quite fortunate.
PTO does not mean as much when you have to work 11 hour days, work all weekend to meet a target date. Then nothing in your personal life has gotten accomplished on what was supposed to be your "work days off" with no pay. Forty hours per week? Not usually. SO you need to take a PTO day to do your personal "stuff", when you really should have had the weekend to do so. Does not seem entirely fair.
I'm about to miss a bunch of deadlines and I stopped caring.
There are things I can control and things I can't, and worrying about this bank succeeding is something I don't do anymore.
And when the banks says please work 10 hours today, I'll say...
Eight is great.
True story - over the years I have become disillusioned about working overtime and going the extra mile for absolutely no appreciation. All it got me was more and more work. I've found that when I quit working overtime and and started taking my full lunch hours, etc. my raises and bonuses increased. It was almost like the less I worked, the more I was appreciated. I think it must be mgmt. seeing me showing more self respect for my own work/life balance and that caused them to respect me more.
Agree with initial poster. In the past I have spent Friday night, all day Saturday and Sunday, on my own time, working overtime to complete a project with an unrealistic target date. For such behavior I received a year end review of "Needs Improvement", with $0 bonus money. This year I do still work a LOT of overtime to meet target dates. However my incentive to work overtime, with no extra pay, has been greatly decreased due to absolutely no appreciation for it and actually negative comments in my yearly review for doing so. This year said Manager seems "surprised" that I am not working day and night, all weekend, to meet the unrealistic target dates. Probably on they lay off list due to the "Needs Improvement" year end evaluation. Monday I will work on the project. See all others in the department appear to be NOT working over the weekends. Sick of it. Many of my former team members have left the department due to too much forced overtime work, with no additional pay. Really don't care as much about it anymore, if the Manager does not appreciate my extra efforts at all. And may very well be laid off soon too.
tell them to do it themself!
@xol+179oFGEg, this advice is 100 percent right; like end of days working here so take it for what its worth.
Ditto!
Funny, I was going to finish some things this past weekend and decided not to, because it just doens't matter to me if they get done, or if I lose this job.
Good work, Wells, you took a company that was highly regarded and a desirable workplace and made it toxic.
i have 7 interviews this week, but will take some time off for these to not be distracted by nonsense here
Everyone remember not to use their work system when posting to this site.
I know everyone knows the company watches us.
Be careful, stay safe.

"Seems like no one is doing more than the bare minimum these days."
This is called doing your job that is described in the job description. I put in my 8 hours exactly then log off. I NEVER open my stuff on the weekend and also deleted the BlackBerry c-ap from my personal devices.
Same boat here. Heck with it, not like our bonus gonna much anyway, so put in the bare minimum
All these executives care about are their extravagant salaries, etc. No point at all in working hard for these people...
Unless it's a pizza, it's not a deliverable.
I get so tired of hearing "leaders" talk about cutting jobs and then tell us to stay focused on "deliverables". Nobody is doing more than they have to right now, the "leaders" have ruined the culture of our company.
Good for you, OP. I feel that way about self evals due – why bother.
Seems like no one is doing more than the bare minimum these days.
