Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The layoffs are going to go on for years

You may be safe in one round but not lucky the next.
When I first interviewed here, I was told it was a stable company. It happened but not a lot.
Now all of us who remain will be targeted. All of us.
I was looking for stability in a company so that I can buy my first home but honestly, I don't think anyone will find that anywhere right now.
This is no good knowing it will be years of this.

I agree. Management is not communicating important information which is causing lack of trust and increased stress.

There is no such thing as a stable company. Too much profit to be made in disruption and destabilizing.

You are absolutely correct. I heard about the new "ship to home" program, where an onsite contact or manager will supervise a 3rd party vendor while they pack up the employees belongings to be shipped to them. Wells is not allowing the displaced employees to go into their work facility and are using the COVID-19 pandemic as the excuse. There is a grieving process that some need to go through and packing up their own belongings can help with that. I have experienced being laid off before and it can be tough emotionally. It is a sad commentary, after giving this company so much of our lives, that we get treated so poorly.

If you have any thought that you might be let go, make sure you get your personal stuff from your office/cube out. The way they are treating the employees they just let go by immediately ceasing access to their building, even though their work through date is in Oct, and not allowing them to collect their personal belongings and clean out their desk is disgraceful. They should be ashamed of themselves treating long-term employees this way.

This is no surprise to anyone here, I’m sure, but Charlie has sent a very clear message that he would rather you be gone if you were a Wells Fargo employee. That means, if you started more than one year ago, he thinks you are tainted and need to go. I am basing this on his lack of communication, lack of leadership, lack of vision, how he is handling layoffs, lack of interest in anything other than cutting jobs.

If you were not hired by someone he hired: he doesn’t care and you are 100% at risk of getting kicked to the curb. No fault for anything you did, but that is his mentality.

I agree, the layoffs will go on for at least 36 - 48 months. It won’t and can’t happen all at once. For now, every employee should keep their head down do their job and plan their exit strategy. Be proactive, look forward, freshen up your resume and begin working And developing your contacts for referrals.
Its better to leave on your own Schedule than be a victim. Bluntly, WF does not offer a stable, long term, satisfying career path any individual for the foreseeable future.

This was a stable company despite the annual layoffs that many of us who've been here a long time fought to survive through.

Now it feels like Office Space, but even more mismanaged.
