Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

It’s not Charlie Scharf who will save WFC

Like many said, he is the fall guy. It’s the person who comes after him who will save this Company. My hunch is that Scott Powell will be that guy.

Scott Powell? No way. Is there any decision he’s made or memo he sent to branches that he didn’t have to reverse and do a 180 on within a month? Like Chuck and everyone Chuck has brought in, Powell is a yes man cashing checks and apparently as clueless as they are old and white.

To @nim: I must not have communicated my thoughts clearly. That is exactly what I was attempting to convey.

@xqu

Did you ever think that they approached women about being CEO and they were smart enough to say hell no? In the end, Charlie McSmirkFace was the only one dumb enough to take the job.

Given the time it took to find someone, I am convinced that Charlie wasn't the first - and certainly wasn't the best - choice for the job. He was just the one that lacked the mental capacity to turn the job down.

There is no guy. There is no plan for a guy.

The company is being broken up and sold.

No guy. Not Scharf. Not anyone.

I can't believe so many are so clueless.
It's sad.

Break it up. It's the most efficient way to achieve prosperity

I’m remembering the Board kept saying they were going to put a woman in the CEO seat. And they failed. Citigroup pulled it off, but nope - not Wells Fargo. That is pretty bad when you can’t convince
someone to come work for you for between $18 million (Sloan) and $36 million (Scharf). Anyone want to bet on whether they low-balled the women?

I just read an article on CNBC from March 2019 where they talk about the 8 best names to replace Sloan. 3 guesses as to who’s name isn’t even on the list.

So we are now left with, literally, the ONLY person who said yes. We won the consolation prize. And I am not consoled. So if you’re wondering why this place has been reeling for the last year: the reason is spelled S C H A R F.

I agree with John Legere! He is 62 and a free agent as far as I know. He has about 5 more good years left in him.

I am not certain that it can be saved TBH.

WF needs a person who can execute. No frills, just flawless execution and good understanding of the basics. And someone who will select true solid leaders. If you have 100 solid leaders you are golden

I dunno. Scott got pissy when someone called Charlie out around D&I at the Executive Leadership. Scott “disagreed” with that claim. Funny enough, he changed his tune at the next all hands. Wells Fargo is like America when it comes to diversity. What is going to save Wells is an engaged leader like John Legere.
