Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Anyone know what this Business Partner Feedback is about

A business partner of mine received an email to provide feedback on me. Anyone else receive one of these and know why? This is the first I have seen of this.

I personally have never been peer reviewed at Wells Fargo, nor have I been asked to peer review anyone for year end.

I get these requests every year for random people I work with to peer review them. it's for year end reviews. I chalk it up to managers being too lazy to know their employees well enough to write anything about them either way, so they make others do the work for them. One year I know my manager just copied and pasted stuff that my peers said about me, because some of my co-workers were too dumb to try to not make it obvious that it came from them. I could tell right away by their writing style.

HR is pushing this harder along with self-evaluations to managers as ways to solicit feedback for midyear and annual reviews. As a manager, it seems like an accountability cop out to me. Rate your team based on their work product, if you don’t know their work product, you’re not an effective manager.

I've been asked to do this for my business partners around review time the last couple of years. Their manager has sent the request with a 2-4 questions to answer. So, in my experience, it's not a bad thing. Luckily, I could be honest and totally positive in my feedback because my partners are pretty good. I've seen quotes from these in my own year-end too.

Its for the managers who don't want to put in the work in writing the reviews. This way someone else is writing it and they cut/paste. Would be a great doc if they actually used it for feedback!

We use them for feedback from our partners for evaluations. It’s an optional exercise but a good one if you are capable of accepting constructive criticism.

It's peer review.

Could be several reasons. Could be for year end evaluation. Could be for HR to make a recommendation between two employees potentially getting laid off. Could be related to a complaint or HR issue.

Peer reviews matter not. Your boss can disagree with the peer reviews and make their own determination on your performance.

My manager has routinely lied and misrepresented my performance despite me providing ample documentation contradicting my manager's baseless claims. I have even provided emails from peers praising my work.

In the end, ER sided with my manager. No surprise there.

Ah, thank you for the info. The person that received is basically my customer and I support their application with development and planning. I can’t imagine a complaint so I am hoping on the other. I get great reviews and comments from them.

But thanks for the replies

OP, the first reply about peer review-I cannot comment as to whether this is correct or not. I would like it, if it is.

But I do know an individual who had a formal complaint filed against them. In that case, emails were sent to 3 to 5 peers setting up a phone meeting to investigate the complaint. Those employees who receive the email are supposed to not say anything, but they often do. Process is highly flawed.

I hope it is the peer review thing and not a complaint thing. But wishing all a good outcome.

Yes, this year’s year end review will include peer review self review and managers calibration.
