Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Falling Behind

Over the last decade every single other bank was quietly shedding headcount, becoming more efficient and most importantly investing in technology.

Wells, operating in some weird alternative universe like it knew better, increased headcount in the name of sales and put zero dollars towards technology.

It is now a massively overstaffed archaic mess of an institution that has simply and rightfully been left behind.

BS, my entire two decades here has been one never ending lay-off. I’ve been waiting 15+ years for my time to come. The only reason I have survived must be I am paid too little.

Multiple studies and publications, even the WEF have called on businesses to invest in training their employees to modernize and deal with the coming future since traditional academic education isn't doing an adequate job. Yet companies are focusing on downsizing and automating out their employees instead of investing in them to make them relevant.

When will they realize they won't have customers if the country doesn't have any citizens with money to spend?

OP is not wrong.

But is there going to be an investment in technology, or just a bunch of IT people cut, making the problems more pronounced?

Maybe Wells fell behind because people like @OP+175Lnw0e keep posting the same post over and over again each week instead of coming up with something new to say.
