@2eyy they are NOT hiring a General Counsel for your division - we only have one General Counsel and her is Ellen Patterson, as you should know. They ARE in the process of hiring 3 new DEPUTY General Counsels, one who starts tomorrow.

For an attorney you are not very precise; perhaps if you tone down your seething anger a bit you might have noticed your misstatements instead of unreasonably lashing out. Deep Breaths!

It’s frustrating that 4-5 years ago when legal went through their transformation based on the what an outside consulting firm recommended and went on a hiring frenzy. Now it’s coming full circle. I totally get it though. There are teams that are crazy slow, so it would make sense to condense them. Not that I’m in favor of anyone losing their jobs. It’ll be a nerve wracking couple months.

@1jid+173BEmS6 your facts are bit off as a new GC was hired months ago and new people are being hired everyday.

Yes, it is true. We are pushed to give a 3/meets or less. I do not know why they have 4 or 5 on the reviews if you have to be a magical being to get it.

@oha (*these are facts) *there is current criteria within a consent order for us to have more hires in legal. I think, if anything, they will restructure and go back to regulators explaining that the current environment doesn't call for hiring right now. *we are also in the middle of hiring General Counsel so until that is done, *current decision makers do not want to change much until GC is onboarded. *So, the plan right now is to stop posting new jobs where they can and (I believe) move teams around (like combine two teams with 4 each into one with 8). legal clearly aligned with the enterprise-wide effort to set TMs at “Meets” or lower on mid year evals per gossip. This will help them determine who to cut later. I also speculate they will early retire TMs that have been here for nearly 20 years but again, that is speculation.

You need to get off this site and instead focus on adding your steps from this past weekend!

I heard it will be sometime in October. Anyone else?

There are a lot of teams with less than seven directs. I can’t imagine eliminating managers. Will they? Legal is already down TMs so laying people off would not make sense.

Most of those in mgmt positions have worked so hard to get there. I can’t think of one unqualified person. It is hard to move up in legal or to be brought in externally into one of these roles. I hope Wells Fargo thinks of this.
