It's psyops. Mgmt is sending the signal that you're going back to the office.
@2rub, thank you for your response. You completely understood what I was getting at. Anyone who is living through this pandemic now (and that is everyone) already has all of the safety equipment. Another waste of money that could be used on something beneficial/useful.
@1sis: I am not @1eur, but the answer to your question is: Yes, they are trying to make it look like they care.
I view it as a not-so-subtle move on the company’s part to get you in the mindset of coming back to the office. It’s a warning shot that the time is near. They are trying to reduce your reasons for resistance. (If you are nervous, than here’s your mask. One for each day of the week!)
There is one important risk they can not change. That is the quality of the air. The only way they can bring employees back in to the office and significantly keep the risk low is to make everyone wear a mask over the mouth and nose 24/7 while in the building. And they’ve already said they are not going to do that. (I understand why that is difficult to require and then enforce,) But nothing has significantly changed since the Spring when they sent us home.
I am empathetic towards both employers and employees trying to navigate Covid. I don’t know what the answers are. But lives are on the line, so I don’t know what could possibly be more important than that. Jamie Damon’s efforts to exert control stinks, and he failed.
As my mentor used to say: “Someone is going to lose here, and it’s not going to be me.” For me, personally, I will do everything possible to keep myself safe. I will fight hard to stay home until the virus is sustainably under control I have gathered the data that proves my work has not suffered. The company is looking out for the company, and I will put equal or greater effort in to looking out for myself.
I have no idea what supplies everyone already has. I’m not a company representative, nor do i work in the COO office, so I can’t tell you what the company will provide in the future. Try asking your manager or the office of the COO. Not sure why you are asking me these questions, just read the emails they send out and you will know what I do.
@1eur, doesn't everyone already have a facemask, sanitizer, and a key to punch the elevator button? Are they going to provide a facemask every day that we are in the office? Are they going to provide more sanitizer once that runs out?
This just seems like a lot of to do for nothing. Are they trying to make it look like they care?
Apparantly JPM did not change HVAC systems and sent people back to work to get sick

They specifically say, to prepare for coming into the office, hence why its a facemask, sanitizer, elevator button pusher. Not sure why people think they are hiding anything, just read the announcement
I would describe them more as getting us physically prepared to come back to the office. Nice idea, but there’s usually a background motive.
We still laugh about the year when, out of the blue, they gave everyone a pretty cellophane-wrapped holiday cookie and a $5 gift card to Starbucks. The very next day they told us that bonuses were going to be cut 85%. Now, when they hand out cookies, we’re all “oh no!“ lol.
