Shoot to attain a DH position by 36.
It has and can be done.

Forget about salary.
If you are male and have served NSF, after working 6 years, you ought to be at least a CL25, by age 30/31.
Bring that forward by 2 years, if you are female.
Anything less and you are under-performing.

No more peace out. More like pieces and pieces of our dignity out, with each day goes by and HR doing their best to drill home the point that we are overpaid and underworked - and that we deserved to get our AWS cut and pay frozen. Sucks to be a junior employee without enjoying the good times company had to offer in the past.

Is it still cool to use peace out to end an convo? Lol, your age is showing boomer

It is time to move out from EM unless you want to stay and work like a slave

voices here help us employees understand the reality, not for management/HR. Sometimes they do peep, esp the stinky ones and they know it themselves. when asked, they act like no idea.

Don’t complain about the ang mohs here - there’s always been cases where you wonder how did this person get this expat posting. It’s not the first time, nor will it be the last time.

How about you stop whining, stop kpkb in a forum where no one gives a sh-t, certainly not management nor HR, and start working on your resume writing and interviewing skills, so that you can get the he-l out of here?

You want to stay in EM, then suck it up and start brown nosing your boss boss boss, so that you can be the undeserving jerk that does some big job.

Peace out

The SSM Mngr is the ONLY DM that has been through/under three(3) different RMs here!
All the other DMs around him have been flipped over the last 10 years, or thereabouts.

SSM manager still an expat after all the workforce study, he must be efficient with what he is doing all these years.

New Technical DM returned to SG last year and been doing commercial job. Maybe top dogs knew about altona in advance and moved people out but more likely she was moved back as art of opex cuts.

Aussie in SG went the other one way to take on role in Altona

Hey I heard that the new Technical DM got ejected from Altona Ref, after their closure was announced recently.
But was “protected” from the layoff there, because she is an SGean. A return-to-sender case hehe!

Singapore as a country is saving our site refinery before it retires for good, slowing down the EV transition. Can't believe that f&l always see EV as a threat, so backward looking. What if transition is at full speed, just like other developed countries? Guess the site be gone in just a couple of years.

If Singapore attains it’s target of >80% EV penetration by 2050, what will happen to the fuel Retail business here?
Now, expand that same question to the developed world / OECD countries, or even China.

If the IOCs cannot continue to peddle retail gasoline and diesel, then they must also convert all their gas stations to electricity charging bays right?
“If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em !!!”
Or perhaps … give up the leases completely and get out of the Retail business for both fuels and lubricants?

CRISP wants to turn Resid to Lubes (for use in internal combustion engines).
But the world is moving to EVs, where traditional automative lubricants (those that you pour into current engine blocks) will become irrelevant and obsolete.
So how?

a taboo to mention crisp to mgmt, it is the slowest turtle in the industry, no where to hide faces.

The new board member is from Neste, stay 10yrs in Singapore to set up biofuel business which now expanding with $1.5billon euro project. Maybe em sg site will be converted to biofuel plant. Those many left to neste looks good move. forget about crisp, not sure even survive through, the longer the wait the less chance it become real...

The recent loss of EM Corp’s 3 board seats to a group of minority (but influential, clean energy) shareholders is akin to having “barbarians at the gates).
Could this spell the downward slide of DW’s control as Chairman and CEO?
What if there were to be a vote of no confidence among the majority shareholders?

i was just thinking.

with the grand plan of outsourcing most of the technical and engineering support to KLTC, is this action considered "legal"?

I mean, the government gives tax rebates and benefits for MNCs to set up base here, and the basic expectation is that these MNCs will provide jobs for the locals.

Now EM is cutting locals and boosting up KLTC strength to operate SG site.
I don't know. It doesn't look right and it spells bad for us locals.

whatever. I'm already out of EM and I think I've gained a couple years of lifespan back. :)

When an industry or company becomes a focal point of financial institutions’ and Governments’ for ESG, you know that the end is near …. If you are smart , cut loss and change runway… the longer you stay it only does more damage to your career especially for the younger folks. End of the day , this industry is liken to be an old folks’ home. Only older folks who don’t mind working for a job and not career will be staying behind. They will walk into the sunset together with the company. Perish into the near future with their remains as fossil ….

Peers jumped out and easily match senior pay. Decade in the deep well, cheated, not appreciated, over commited and stuck. Left overs cleaning up the left overs on dirty tables, not in PDS. Full blast in jobs outsourcing to low cost countries, what?! Unmotivated and expired faces left, not a fulfilling career.

Completely agree about the cowardice leadership from SG management...just empty talk about good times possibly coming back but no action or tangibles.....yet demand real results from the workforce.
The only way to tell them to shove it is to find another job ...which I did this week!

No more PDS or ranking cr-p ...or listening to the fake bravery from EM management which makes me sick in the stomach.
SG EM is going to be a shell in the next 10 years....for those who still believe in EM....you need to migrate to India, Malaysia, or Thailand...

SG Folks, haven't you learnt anything since 2020....SG Mgt has shown their true colours....displaying nothing but cowardice and lying through their teeth....those DHs and above drawing $20K+ monthly feel minimal impact to salary or promotion freezes therefore they are just shoving more work down the line and putting up a brave front to hide their cowardice.

When times are good...it is easy to show bravado and confident words...but when times are sh--e...you see the true colours.

I really feel sorry for the lower level workforce (SLS and below)...getting tons of work without reprieve because of coward leadership yet not rewarded in any way. But well....you have a choice to leave, and if you cant....who else can you blame....

This year mgmt were bitten sooo hard by these smart ones leaving, causing more work for us to tank, high priority monitoring for some functions, trying hard to tell Hous that we are overly stretched and heavily bleeding, but try to "act" as if it is a small wound.

Let's acknowledge an internal losing xombie war, best soldiers planned well and left for green, xombie virus outbreak started by the leaders spreading at crazy speed internally, remaining soldiers breaking down, majority no trust in the leaders, no pride serving the ugly flag, why?? Because selfish weak leaders trying hard to hide the rootcause of the outbreak, so leftovers can continue to offer as feedings to them. No more trust, no more wins.

and then your div manager will tell you that they will try to bring you back to the salary curve each year. You will not be on the curve but will be close to the curve in the next few incremental cycle.
